  1. I am a newly graduated LVN here in California. We are a military family and I will be moving to Tennessee soon. I am glad I found this forum because I want to enroll in the Excelsior program. I am a little worried though about finding a school that will except Excelsior credits because I do plan on getting my bachelors degree eventually. Has anyone had any issues with moving on in their education and also has anyone had a hard time Finding employment because you graduated from Excelsior? My school for LVN was a private college and I was president of my class and previously enrolled in and RN program but due to the military I had to drop out. Long story short here in California it is very difficult to get into an RN program and complete it within the Amount of time I had here. Also they do a lottery system. It is just very difficult here. anyways just trying to find some input before I sign up for this.
  2. Hello, I am wanting to get my RN. i am a military spouse and have been in school for-EVER! and im ready to get my RN. we are in cali and will be moving to TN, I am very self motivated and talked to someone at excelsior today adn it felt like a good school to go to. for those who have done the program what are the pros/cons.. are you glad you made that choice? how difficult was the CPNE clinical? I will be testing (nclex) very soon for LVN.. wish me luck! :)
  3. Well it's been a while! And I did it :) moved to sc, started an RN program, we had to move again do I withdrew...long story short ended up in California and just graduated from lvn school where I was class president! Woohoo! I'm on the right track. We move to TN in June, where I will bridge, and I'm praying to get a job as an lvn while going to school. Thank god. Everything worked out! :) now I really need to start networking. Anyone have suggestions in where to begin? I'm browsing on here, but additional suggestions are welcomed!
  4. hi everyone. i read about 3/4 of the replies to this thread. UHHH i need some hope. i am a military wife. i satrted a nursing program in FL. then we moved. i withdrew the middle of my second semester. were in sc now. i started a program adn 2 weeks into it withdrew becaue just foudn out we were moving to california unexpectedly. great.. so NOW we are moving near fresno and i have no clue where to start. i hear so many bad things about the wait there and some of the schools. help. im so lost.i just wanna be done with school already. my email is [email protected] i try to get on thsi site but i am in college right now getting my A.A. so ive been kind of busy. please email me. thanks!
  5. how are you doing with that program? does the school seem fair?
  6. hi there i was wondering which college you chose? we will be moving to lemoore, ill be a transfer student wherever i go, i was looking into both of the colleges mentioned as well, but i will be closer to west hills. have you heard anything else about these 2 colleges? im also hands on. i aced my clinicals i have done so far, but the 1st nursing school i went to i had some trouble with the testing. any advice you can give me id appreciate!
  7. WOO HOO! i was accepted benya, try to contact me through email if you see this. [email protected] thanks!
  8. email me at [email protected] i am here now, applied to the college,a dn told they cant transfer my nursing classes.. im confused though because they have a 12 mth rule... so that i had to take my nursing classes within 12 months to be considered a transfer student. and well, my last nursing class ended in august.. if i started in august, id meet that deadline.. right?? and another thing is i took a pharmacology class which ended in december. the shcool i went to didnt require that for the nursing program, but i knew another college most likely would... so if they considered that class, then i would only be 6 months without takign a nursing class... how is the college so far? what is the schedule like and teachers? is it a lot of self study or do you get to actually hear a lesson in the classroom? that is the problem i had at my old school.. it was a LOT of self study then when we tested, so many people would fail. didnt matter how hard you studied, some of those questions were bogus. even people passing the class complained. well im hoping to start in january. i filled out my application now i have to just wait it out :/ i just want to get started so i can be done already. it is verys tressful when you want something so bad and theres all these obstacles standing in the way!
  9. i can not figure out how to email you.. strange, but benya, PLEASE email me.. put in the subject like NURSING SCHOOL in caps lol. i am in a similar boat you were in. i started nursing school here in pensacola... im trying to get into TCL program now... UUHH what a hassel. im not starting as a first semester student... like you, i have most of my classes done, just have to do the main nursing classes and i think statistics... i just am needing to chat with someone else whose been through this process.. !! jacquie
  10. I havent gotten my letter yet, but if i dont start this august, i will start next january. How is the progrm so far? i may actually be in some of your classes depending when i start since i already took many of the classes here in FL. where in SC are you located? we are moving to the beaufort area in less than a month now. i cant wait!
  11. HEY! i am applying to the nursing program. I started nursing classes here in FL at pensacola junior college, (disaster!) well i am waiting to hear back about the classes they will accept from FL. We are moving to the area in may so im excited to just get started again with school! can anyone reading this please email me? we are military, and i could really use someone to buddy up with while going through school. i feel confident with what i know so far, but its always good to have someone to walk through this with! thanks so much! [email protected]
  12. I was in the RN program at PJC and to make a very long story short, I did all i had to do and consider myself a good student, and motivated others etc. i was given an opportunity to cheat, and turned it down, and now i think...damn, those people got farther than me.. im the one who isnt in the program now. SO i took my re-entry exam. part of that was for mental health which i had passed the class, but we needed to take the exam again. i failed it this time. i dont know HOW considering i did well in the class, im taking psychology and pharmacology now... idk, im so confused, and my school is REALYL messed up. it has been my dream to be a nurse and i feel im not getting what i deserve as a student. so many peopel have a problem with my school i am a navy wife, i come from a family who not many people at all have gotten to college, and nooen has ever graduated. im trying to do well for myself, and today, i feel sick. i just want to be a good student and get my degree. we are due to move from Pensacola to Beaufort SC most likely. we are awaiting where we will be going but that is where we put in for. im ready to move. i need some suggestions...anything...inspiration, info about beaufort nursing schools, advice...anything.. im just so completely devastated.
