I work in a Pediatric clinic and I wear character scrubs everyday. It makes it a little easier when a scared child comes in for immunizations or stitches. They seem a little more interested in my clothes and I dont come off as one of the regular nurses they have been held down by. A nice friendly smile and some cute scrubs goes over great with the kiddos.

I work in a hospital laboratory and our dress code was recently changed. We used to be able to wear black jeans or khakis and any kind of shirt, but now, jeans are taboo and no t shirts at all. Reason- because they are not PROFESSIONAL. BUT...scrub clothes are OK! Really, I think scrub clothes look like pajamas.

However, I went and bought a bunch of coordinating colors of scrubs and wear them all the time. Still dont see how its better than nice black jeans, but who am I to say?

The only rule with our dress code is no denims...Some of the stuff these girls wear is pretty wild...especially the peds nurses...Even what some of the uniform shops around here are selling now is kinda crazy. Girls can walk in and shop for hours just as if they are at the mall. Guys walk in and goto the corner that has all the plain stuff and we're outta there. I just wear plain old green, royal blue, or navy blue unisex scrubs...boring! :zzzzz

I dont care for cartoon scrubs unless the job is in peds, but I do like the celestial and animal prints. I recently got a catalog that had scrubs in a denim print...sounds interesting...probably not allowed in my hospital.:o

I learned how to sew, bought a real simple scrub shirt pattern, and I made the coolest holiday scrub shirts,>>

Is it pretty easy to sew together a scrub top? I'd love to be able to make my own.

I sew (a little) and scrub tops are very easy..like 5 pieces..so I had scrubs for every holiday even easter, St Patricks and valentines..I also got many compliments!! It was fun!! Now I do case management so I wear business casual..BUT I still wear a lot of my scrubs to bed!! Erin

DEAR ERIN COULD YOU EMAIL ME BACK WITH TIPS ON HOW TO SEW A SCRUB TOP? IS IT EASY TO SEW THE V-NECK PATTERN? WHICH PATTERN DID YOU USE. I WOULD LOVE TO SEW A HOLIDAY TOP.

my scrub tops are totally machine sewed--there are many patterns out there and you can put on as many pockets as you want !!!!! I usually buy material that is anywhere from $2-7 per yard and need 2 yards for each scrub so the savings are great! you'll get great compliment from all your seasonal tops--I even have one for columbus day!!!!!

HELLO PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH TIPS ON HOW TO SEW EASY SCRUBS. IS IT EASY TO SEW THE V-NECK PATTERN. WHICH PATTERN DO YOU USE? ANY TIPS.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEW ME A HOLIDAY PRINT. I AM SCHOOL NURSE AND THE KIDS WOULD LOVE THE DIFFERENT PRINTS.

I can't believe that everyone is allowed to wear any color/pattern they wish. Patterns are verboten around her (fine with me-- I'm not a fan) and we have to wear navy or white (or a combination of the two, of course). As you may imagine, nobody wears all white. I'm fine with the dress code.

Doesn't it look a bit chaotic if nurses are walking around in different uniforms?

I have noticed that on a floor the day shift will pick at patern or color scrub top and then all wear it for like a couple days then another the next

I love prints. I'm a professional because of the manner in which I conduct myself, not because of what I wear. My personal favorites are Tinkerbell, Mr. Potatoe Head and VeggieTales. My residents are always telling me they love my "dresses."

I like to prints and colors just not plain white. I love the cartoon characters but I worked at a school and with a pediatric pt. so it fits. I guess it would just depend on where I am working. I do have to say that I wouldn't want anyone telling me what to wear unless they were paying for the uniforms. But I am the type of person who likes variety not the same old same day after day.

I would also be interested in where you got the pattern from.

After I graduated, I took one of the dreaded school uniform scrub tops, took it apart and used that for a pattern. That way you can see how the whole thing is put together. I work in LTC now. Nurses wear white pants and hunter green tops, CNAs wear burgundy.
