does anyone get to wear fun scrubs

:rotfl:I get to at my work place (i am a cna at a nursing home) But i think it is nice to see nurses in fun scrubs how do u all feel and do u get to wear fun scrubs? :nurse:

Mario, at our facility that is the color the OR crew wears, burgandy. They switched from green a couple of years ago and as far as I know, no one makes any comments about the masculinity of any OR male!!!:)

On the floors we wear colored pants and plain or patterned tops. A lot of us sew and make a lot of our own scrub tops so most any fabric that coordinates with the pant color is okay and a lot of folks have done some cute seasonal prints. The patients have only positive things to say about us wearing prints, they love it.

Management says we can wear uniforms or scrubs.

Most of us wear scrubs. For years I did Home Health after

my nite shift,so I got into the habit of Navy pants(the Home Care

Agency wanted Navy).Iwould mix a colored scrub top & then a Navy Jacket; SinceI stopped the home care, I wear a solid color scrub top & I usually wear a patterened jacket,but usaully a subtle pattern--not cartoons or hearts or anything.

I like the scrubs because they are easy to care for.

Almost all of my scrub tops are patterns because I'm big on top and EVERYTHING I eat seems magnetically attracted to my shirt. I have seasonal tops, and a few kitty prints......no hearts or cartoon characters for this almost 45-year-old! I also sometimes wear a solid color T-shirt under a print jacket with (dark) solid colored pants. One of my really fun ones has brightly colored seals all over it.....I get a lot of compliments on that one.

Personally, I LIKE having some individuality in my work clothes....and I've never once had my qualifications or my competency questioned, by patients or family members.

I think it's a personal preference and a person can continue to wear patterns or not, and still look entirely professional, as long as your uniform is clean and pressed and you are neat yourself...

Where I work, I have seen nurses come in with wet hair, all over the place, wrinkled uniforms, looking like they just slept in them so they could get up faster. To me, that is incredibly tacky...

Just as tacky as running into work 2-10 minutes late (Almost EVERY day) because you HAD to go to McDonalds and are eating while getting report, but had the nerve to comment about the nurse who left a half an hour ago (with clearance from the office & all of her work finished)) to make sure her kids are up for school.

Sorry, got a bit off subject there...

But yea, I think a person can wear anything as long as the uniform and the person wearing it looks clean and professional.

We may wear "fun" scrubs. I work in LTC. I work on a floor where most of the clients have dementia. Many of them perk up when they see one of us wear a seasonal pattern or Looney Tune patterns. I have never received a negative comment from a client re fun scrubs. Some clients that hardly say anything will react positively to bright coloured scrubs or fun scrubs.

After our first year of nursing school, my class was allowed to wear prints as long as our uniforms/scrubs were freshly laundered and ironed, (it was such a relief to get out of the boring solids). I totally agree that clients love the print tops. I have never heard a negative comment from any patient about anyone's prints. When in maternity, I like to wear the more babyish prints (like teddy bears parachuting from rainbows). Med/surg more stylish prints (seasonals like autumn leaves), and now that I am in a community clinic for placement, I like to wear the stuff that appeals to the kids (no SpongeBob though, he is just too tacky!).

I LOVE prints. They do allow us to show off our personalities (I would never be caught dead in flowers or pink for instance! Definitely not a girlie-girl). But, solids allow others to show off their personalities, or preference. Supposedly choosing green means you are in intelligent, etc, etc,.

Mario, think nothing of raspberry as a color choice.

At the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore (assoc. with U of Maryland) Docs and Nurses, male and female, (although I believe the majority are actually men) wear cotton candy pink - no one questions their masculinity either.

We can where whatever type of scrubs we want where I work.

I bought some really nice fabrics, Waverly florals, and had several tops made.

I also wear plain solid colors and fun prints, like one with detailed drawings of cats. I also have a leopard print top with matching warm-up jacket and work bag. I always get positive comments on my scrubs from pts, co-workers and boss..

that is exactly what i did when i passed my lpn boards in 2002. i took most of my income tax money and blew it all on colorful uniforms. i work in ltc and my residents really seem to like the cartoon characters and wild patterns. and believe me, if one of them doesn't like something i have on,they will definately let me know! well,just thought i'd share that with you! goodnight. :zzzzz -amy

I sew (a little) and scrub tops are very easy..like 5 pieces..so I had scrubs for every holiday even easter, St Patricks and valentines..I also got many compliments!! It was fun!! Now I do case management so I wear business casual..BUT I still wear a lot of my scrubs to bed!! Erin

Lol :chuckle while consuming fast food anytime at the hospital would be as bad as lighting up a cigarette, on the other hand, eating raw fruits or veggies is okay to eat at anytime except at non-eating environments.

Sometimes I see a person wearing like a sweatshirt under their scrubs. Some people get so cold :-)
