Anyone get a C in A&P?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Well, I got a C in A&P...twice. I fear I have done myself in. Anyone else get a C in A&P and still get into nursing school?

Just got home from my A & P 1 final  I am praying for a C...I was a Business major when I decided to go into nursing. Worked for a major bus corp for 10 years !! and quit !!! The travel and the long hours and constantly trying to sell people things got to be to much. Now I am a waitress, a student and a single mother of 3, 1 in college 1 in High School and 1 in 1st grade . I do have the most supportive wonderful boyfriend and kids a woman could ask for though ! I can tell you that I always had A's in my Bus classes and was BLOWN away by A & P , I tried memorization...NOT ENOUGH...I needed to APPLY what I have learned, and I struggled the whole semester. I was holding a solid C going into the final, I should know by Friday if I kept the C to proceed to A & P 2.

My CC require that I get at least C's in my pre reqs for admission, so a C wont hold me back. I have A's in my other classes as of now.

Good Luck to you

I have a bachelor's in Business Administration and graduated with a 3.97. I never once took a science class during my undergrad. I can tell you I worked 10 times harder on this A & P class than I ever did in any of my business classes. I feel like a big dummy.

You are NOT a dummy. Don't say that!

My school works on a point system and the A&P I and II grades weigh heavily. What about your school--do you know if the A&P classes weigh more heavily than others?

I also had a business degree and was in for a rude awakening when I started my first pre-req after a few years off, which as physiology(my school does anat and phys seperately). Needless to say, I got a C... but I was just accepted to an accelerated nursing program for January so it is definitely possible. Try to do well in the other sciences and you will be fine! Good luck!

Hah, I'm in the same situation as you are!!

i was just 3 points shy of a B!!

here's my question:

i took the class at a university would it be okay to retake it at a community college?

thanks everyone else for your responses they helped me too!!

I don't think it matters where you take it as long as it is accepted by your nursing program. For example, my nursing school accepts A&P but I have to take plain physiology as well. I took A&P at a community college, BTW, and it was outstanding!

thanks soo much for this post....previous to sciences i had also held a 3.8 gpa. all a's and 1 b on my record. i ended up with a c in anatomy this semester and although i'm happy i passed i am really upset with myself for getting this grade. i am thankful that i am able to go on to physiology next semester and then microbiology so i'm really going to try to rock those classes. my community college is very competitive but i'm trying not to let this c slow me down!

Just got my grade and hour ago....I got a C !!. Considering how much different the material was from Bus classes Im happy and thankful for the grade. I did seem to catch on to how to study for Sciences about 1/2 way through the Semester and did do better in the 2nd half of the class. I was Failing !! and my new study tools got me the C.

Plan...move on, learn, use new study tips from day 1 of A & P 2 and dont give up !!!

I have A's in anatomy and physiology, just got a C in Micro.. Will I get in to nursing? :(

I took A&P online and got a C due to the fact that I didn't take the final which means I got a zero on it... its a long story but I learned a valuable lesson! It basically comes down to what your GPA is. If you normally get As and Bs then one C shouldn't hinder you from getting excepted. I was excepted into nursing school without any problems. Before that class I had a 4.0 GPA and since that class every other semester has been a 4.0 so my GPA was still high enough. I'm sure you will be fine. I have many friends who are amazing nurses who told me that if they had to sit down and take an A&P test they would probably fail it because a lot of it is the nitty gritty stuff that doesn't factor into their duties as a nurse. There is a reason that doctors specialize, there is SO MUCH going on in the body with all of its different processes that no human could retain ALL of that information. I'm sure you'll have no problems getting in.

I got a C in microbiology and am a practicing RN. I got initially wait listed for my program but got in within a few weeks later.

I did, with those grades ^

Also it doesn't just come down to GPA. Seeing more and more that CC's that give ADN/ASN come down to GPA. BSN and Hospital programs are looking for more than just whether or not you got an A in the class.

They're looking at resumes, letters of recommendation, test scores, essays. So no your C shouldn't condemn you to digging ditches.

I just took my A&P final yesterday and ended up with a C in the class. I've had a 4.0 GPA so far until this. Needless to say I'm really dissapointed in myself and realized that I desperately need to brush up on my study skills (haven't been in school since high school and this was the first hard science class I've taken in college...I'm 31 BTW). I've decided I'm taking it again in the fall because I feel like I need to know this stuff better if I'm going to be a nurse. I'm not happy just floating by. Plus, it will hopefully repair a little of the damage I did to my GPA. :(
