Anyone in or finished the pre-licensure online BSN program?

I have been looking for reviews on the BSN program, but so far most of the reviews are on the ADN-BSN programs. I would like to hear from students that either are in the pre-licensure BSN program or finished the program.

-Pro's and cons of your opinion

-How long will or did it take you to finish?

-Do you work or did you work while in the program? And how many hours a week?

-And add anything else you would want to share with me, please :)

If anyone particular is from southern california in the program, how did the clinicals work? Did they find you a hosptial and a mentor or do you find your own?

Usually it's 3 days one week and 3 days the next, but not necessarily 3 days in a row. It could be like Mon and then Thur and Fri, but it can also be 3 days in a row. It just depends what your clinical coach's schedule is. Hope that helps.

Awesome, thank you! Do you know how far in advance you will know the schedule? I can definitely do that id just have to move my patients to another day if I knew a week or two ahead of time. This sounds like it might a little more acceptable to my wife. I've looked at an ADN-RN program for healthcare practitioners in West Palm that would have you in clinicals Thursday-Monday, once a month.

You get a calendar for the whole 2 1/2 years once you're accepted into the program. It has all the lab dates and clinical windows mapped out for the whole program. You will know all of the 2 (or 3 week) windows. Usually you get the specific clinical dates for the rotation 2 weeks in advance. There have been a couple rotations where we got short notice on clinical dates, but they usually do get the schedule to you with 2 weeks notice.

I am in Texas and we usually get our clinical schedule a week in advance but it does come within the time period laid out on the calendar. Now that I am in the last term and have passed the critical care course I am waiting to hear about our clinicals which are the week of Christmas and new years.

Thank you for the information. I am starting in January and was wondering how far in advance we would know the schedule. Can't wait to get started.

What are the clinical times? 7am, 3pm, etc. thanks. Can they be on the weekends?

They can be any of those. They give you a window in advance in regard to when the clinicals will be held. Usually the window is 2 weeks, thus, you need to be flexible during those times.

I am looking to apply for the Indiana program. I am an educator in Indianapolis and looking to transition into nursing. How many people are in your cohort? Was it a challenging application process? What was your TEAS V scores? GPA? Anything else I should know about Indiana specific?

I just started the prelicensure program in SoCal May 1st. So far, I enjoy how the program is structured, then again, I literally JUST started. Ill try to remember to update after my first lab and after the first term ends. If you'd like, you can PM me around October to remind me. I denied several ADN programs for this BSN program so I'm putting a lot on the line for this "nontraditional" program. Crossing my fingers it pays off!!

Hi, how is the SoCal program going?
