  1. I feel very prepared for the NCLEX! I am currently just waiting for the board of nursing to give me my ATT (approval to test) to schedule it. I think the program is great and have learned so much while n the program I found that especially during clinicals i was better prepared to perform skills and when I was there with other students from different schools I was able to perform way more skills. By CASAL II I was putting in IVS and NG tubes and performing dressing changes, and giving medications.
  2. I just graduated from WGU's prelicensure BSN program. I had several job offers from various facilities in the Texas Medical Center. I will be working for one of the most prestigious healthcare facilities in the medical center. I had no problem getting the job or interview not once did anyone question where I went to school the only question they had was when was I taking NCLEX. I found the program very hard but its doable. If you want something YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK! I worked 40-50 hr weeks and managed to graduate on time. I can say that I spent many nights awake until 2 or 3 in the am to finish work only to get up again at 5. The facility where I will be working is a magnet facility, and I just kept hearing how they loved WGU graduates.
  3. I didn't pass evidence base before the end of last term and when the new term stated on November 1 it just carried over I din't get a fail on my schedule or transcript.
  4. I am in Texas and we usually get our clinical schedule a week in advance but it does come within the time period laid out on the calendar. Now that I am in the last term and have passed the critical care course I am waiting to hear about our clinicals which are the week of Christmas and new years.
  5. I was accepted to the Nov 1 cohort in 2012 my GPA was 3.0 and my TEAS was 67.3 now I am about to finish in April I have just one class left! I also work n the medical field for the last 16 years as a PCA. Good Luck and dont give up! Labs happen for the CASAL I and II, Chronic Care, OB, PEDS and chronic care there are no labs for Psych, Community or Role transition. I finished Biochemistry in 21 days and the boot camp was intense if you had no medical experience. I have found the program challenging but I know my stuff from the lesson taught. I would suggest to stay on track don't get behind and if you can start adding non nursing courses like evidence based after chronic care otherwise you will end up with 19 hours in your last term and that is a lot of stress when you should start breathing a little easier.
  6. I am currently in my last term for WGU Prelicensure program in Texas and I work 40-50 hours a week in a hospital clinic. I think the program is challenging as when my cohort started we had 10 students and now we only have 5 due to people not passing the didactic portion of the classes. I have one classmate that I talk to everyday and we work together to get tasks completed so that helps. If you make it your priority it will work for you. Also they give you a 30 month calendar with potential lab and clinical dates, I just gave my director a copy of the schedule and we work with it when I have to be off for clinicals.
  7. I am a Houston student that is finishing in April what do you want to know?
  8. I am a Houston student about to start the last term on November 1 I wish you lots of luck and offer you this advise study as much as possible and tell everyone in your life this is your time and you gave to be selfish to succeed. You really need an understanding family and job. I work 40-50 hours a week and have a teenage son with lots of commitments and a husband. Everyone including my son is very understanding and help alot!
  9. I am in the Texas program and I work a 40-50 hour work week along with a teenage son and a husband so I know that it can be done. I am entering the last term and it has been rough at times you just have to put in the time. Usually on Saturday I sit at the kitchen table all day to do my work as much as I can get done if we have somewhere to go. I work every night on my tasks at least two hours. Cinicals are usually at the hospital I work at or in Texas City which is about 45 minutes from my house. As far as scheduling goes I have my employer a copy of the 15 month schedule with clinicals listed as well so when clincicals are coming up I just tell then I will be out two or three weeks and they give me off so when its not everyday they are surprised that I am working for them.
  10. Hey has anyone heard from their mentor. Mine hasn't called me and I am starting to worry since school starts in a few days and I haven't registered for any classes
  11. everyone keep your head up. it is hard to get into nursing school i have been trying for a couple of years I just want everyone to not lose hope it will happen in its due time. good luck everyone.
  12. I applied in July when I finished everything except biochem. I did ave to take the CLEP because I made a C- in English II which was in September. So my file wasn't complete until just a few days ago when my results were recieved by the school and me. Heads up guys if you have to take the English comp CLEP test know that it is the only test that has to be handgraded due to the two essays they make you write and it takes 3-4 weeks to get the results. I look forward to meeting everyone and by the way does anyone know if we have to do the clinical checkoff before we apply to the clinical portion?
  13. thanks quita1203 I have my interview tomorrow and that realy helps. I work at Methodist so I knew the clinicals would be there. My enrollment counselor told me that working there would help in the admission process.
  14. Hi quita1203 I would like to know where you found out the information about reapplying. I haven't had my intake interview yet and want to have all my ducks in a row so to speak.
  15. My teas score was 67.3 and I didn't take Biochem or pharmacology and I got in for the November 1st Houston cohort if that helps.
