Alight so I also had a letter in the mail. Mine was a large envelope, with lots of papers in it. So it had the acceptance letter and then it had orientation information on it. It says December 2, which I had been told about over the phone. Then I have a Methodist orientation on Jan 8th. Then it talks about a 3rd orientation on Jan. 20,21,22nd at El Centro. It also had the document that I need to return stating that I accept their offer. Lots of other papers and lastly.....scrub info. and purchasing info. Let me know if its the same--in regards to the El Centro Orientation dates. Woot woot.....for the win!! (Sorry that's the WOW player in me)

Changing the subject a little bit.....I'm a little perplexed. I currently work as a tech at 2 different hospital systems. Clearly no point to staying on at THR, when MHS is paying for school. I guess now I just need to decide when to give my 2 weeks. Is it bad of me to want to put in my 2 weeks when I work on Monday. I work PRN at both places, but I kinda want to take it ultra chill before school starts, lol. I just saw the mailman pass....brb.

PD82 Sounds like you have taken the exam. Ok, so I had an entire response to this and I was up until 6am and I am not sure I have it in me to write it up as good as the first time. So I will do my best. Basically, I called BHC and spoke to the Dept. of nursing secretary-- she is the one that said about this being a few weeks workshop. I had everything set to apply there except this dosage calculations exam score. I felt completely miss informed and S.O.L since I was going off the site information and I was thinking initially when I saw the powerpoint that it was something you did online and then you would just go to the testing center and take the exam. Well clearly that was not the case. This is what is on their page: Take the Dosage Calculations Workshop (Click here for registration information) offered through the Brookhaven College Continuing Education Department. The required textbook for the dosage calculations workshop is Brown, M & Mulholland, J.M. (2012). Drug calculations: Ratio and proportion. Problems for clinical practice. (most current edition). St. Louis: Mosby/Elsevier. Cost of the workshop is $75. At the end of the workshop, you must pass one of the final dosage calculations exams at 90 percent or greater. You will have three chances to obtain the passing score of 90 percent or greater. Final Dosage Calculations exam scores are good for two years. Then by going to the link you go to the DCCCD site to sign up for a "workshop"(online course) for $75.00

[TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Course-Number-Section (Reg#) Title[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Start/End Date[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Number of Weeks[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Class Meeting Information[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Loc CEUs[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Faculty[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Co-Req Sections[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Cap/Avail[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Status[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Tuition[/TH] [TH=class: Grp_LIST_VAR1 left, bgcolor: #C8D8ED]Class Features[/TH]

RNSG-1008-21000 (979875) Dosage Calculations for Nrsng 07/10/15 09/18/15 11 X1091 LEC F 10:00AM 03:30PM BHC 1.60 M. After registering for the course, the student will need to log into eCampus to access the syllabus. There will be three on-campus meeting dates when a student can come to campus and ask questions, receive tutoring and take the final test. The dates are: August 1st 10:00am-3:30pm August 29th 10:00am-3:30pm September 12th 10:00am-3:30pm All on-campus meetings will meet in X-1091.

Anyway, I spoke to BHC and told them that I felt that it should be fixed for future students. They really should put the above information about how its date specific on their main page. Because of my original assumption, I wasn't able to sign up for the course and take the exam and then ultimately not apply. But good thing I don't need to worry about it, since I am in at ECC. But definitely feel that this dosage calculation information and that the exam is only offered those dates should be put where that bold information is on their site. Don't say: Start/End Date 07/10/15--09/18/15 --Having a start and end date makes it seem that I needed to have signed up by 7/10. And regardless on how self paced it is, the first available test date is Aug. 1st. which still has some weeks in between. Ok sorry for the rant....just get annoyed when things aren't clear.

Yes its a course that lasts a few weeks. which is why I wasn't able to apply to BHC. It is under the continuing education department. I was under the same impression.....which is what screwed me up. I am pretty good at dosage calculations, drip rate I might need a little refresher, but I don't need an entire course that's a few weeks. Good Luck.

I was going to apply to Brookhaven as well, but I miss understood the the requirement of having to take the dosage calculation exam and score a 90 on. I didn't know it was an entire semester course. So, I guess I could have not gone to Vegas and gone to take the exam, but I chose Vegas. I also applied to ECC Methodist program. Good Luck to everyone.

I am extremely late chiming in, but I finally spent some time reading comments. I was looking for ECC/Methodist Spring 2016, since I applied to both El Centro and ECC/Methodist program. MHS extended me an interview, which was Tue. Now I just have to wait. I got the all clear email from Sentry, but now I'm being told there is something going on with it. But ECC nor Sentry will tell me what the hiccup is. Being left in the dark about this issue by ECC and Sentry seems unprofessional in my opinion.

WGU- Pre-license RN program
SlicksGirl, I ended up going with another program. I had too many questions and concerns about the WGU program. One of my main concerns is that I had seen the graduation pinning video which had 3 students and at the time, I found that one of the WGU grads was having a hard time finding a job, unfortunately that was a big red flag. I also did not like the idea of having to worry if I would get into clinicals since once your accepted into the program does not guarantee that. And lastly, the length of the program is way too long, so at the end all those concerns were too many to put aside. But please keep in mind this is all for the pre-licensure program, I can not speak for any other program. These were just my concerns. I instead got into a 1 year 2nd BSN program that I have already started and love. God willing by this time next year I will have completed the program and have my 2nd bachelors.

Could you tell me which Pagebust you like best. I see there is a: Pageburst E-Book on Kno Pageburst E-Book on VitalSource - Access Card Pageburst E-Book on VitalSource Not sure what the difference between those are. I was thinking of getting a bundled package with the book and E-Book. If you don't mind me asking....what bad experience did you have with the other e-Books? Was it for the Applying Nursing Process: A Took for Critical Thinking?

I got my registration email and classes. I have gone ahead and registered for the 21 hrs, I believe it is. Now I just have to look into getting the books. I also need to purchase the app that we need, but was going to do it after I got a new phone. Hope everyone is getting everything resolved before school starts.
