Anyone ever have a tummy tuck?

Yes, I occasionally get to watch "A Personal Story" and have seen cases of plastic surgery on different parts of the body on that show. I'm a little nervous about having it done, but am determined to go through with it. :)

My mother had one several years ago. For the first week after surgery, she kept saying "what have I done to myself." She was in terrible pain and could barely walk. However, the pain went away and she was thrilled with the results. Get a good surgeon and you should be fine. Good luck!

Yes, I just had one 3 1/2 weeks ago. I didn't think it was bad at

all. I have an incision from hip to hip which doesn't cause me ANY

pain. The only discomfort I had was from the muscle repair. It was really hard to get up and down and coughing/sneezing was painful. I was on pain meds the first few days. The worst part is having to wear the compression garment 24/7! I still have swelling, but I can tell it's going to make a huge difference. I also had lipo to the inner thighs/flanks. I believe they removed somewhere around 8 lbs of skin/fat.

Now I'm doing pretty much everything I did before other than lifting. You can go to tuckthattummy.com for more info. Good luck! It's a hard decision, but one I'd make a hundred times over!

Thanks Todd and futurenp! Sounds painful, but I soooooo want to get rid of my excess tummy that keeps me from wearing the clothes I want. I've tried exercising it away, but it doesn't want to leave me. Precious but gross! Begone tummyfat! :rotfl:

I can't believe it. Just 2 minutes ago I started a thread on this same subject. Then I was scrolling through and I saw this one. I am also thinking about getting one done but I am so chicken. My friend just had one done last year and she swears by it. She looks so good. I posted my thread under the break category. I don't know how to post it in this reply. sorry

I am too damn fat to even consider it. I have to lose some 20 pounds and even then, if excess hangs, I won't have surgery to get rid of it. Too scaaaaaaaaaaaaaared.

It crossed my mind some 10-15 years ago. But now I think.."hey, if everything else is flappin' in the breeze, why bother?"

The only thing for me to do now it pull my hair up reeeeeeeeeal tight in one of those topknots... maybe the rest of the excess skin will pull upwards and tighten up with it !

One of the LVNs I used to work with had one She had hysterectomy and had a deal with the OB/GYN. He had a Plastics guy that he worked with and they did them that way a lot. Insurance coverage was better for the Hysterectomy than for the tummy tuck, so they worked them both into one package. When she came in later she said it felt like she had bungie cords from her hips to her chest for a little while but she said it wasn't really that bad. Take it from a wicked MCP, She looked NICE. I didn't think she needed it before, but it wasn't wasted. She really did look nice after.

I say go for it!!! I personally am contemplating a breast augmentation due to my virtually flat chest... :) maybe, possibly next year.... (as soon as I can save up the $) So I can understand the wanting to get plastic surgery. My suggestions from what I have researched about BA's but can also be applied to a tummy tuck are to

1) Thoroughly research the pros and cons and weigh them out.

2) Find a good surgeon...even if it means traveling... be sure to know how many cases they have done of your particular surgery, what he will do if something goes wrong, etc....

3) Know what you will feel after so that it isnt a surprise... people often say that they are in alot of pain but that it can be controlled with meds and also that they are depressed immediately after. However, from what I have heard, they pretty soon were loving the results....

I talked to two different plastic surgeons about it at one time. I gave birth to triplets nearly 14 years ago and the stretch that pregnancy but on my abdominal muscles and skin was tremendous! I'm within my weight range and my belly is *reasonably* flat (hey, I'm 44...never gonna be totally flat again) but the skin is all stretched out and hang-ey. Eeew. No exercise in the world is gonna fix that.

I'd like to do a tummy tuck....but I don't want/can't afford the RECUPERATION time. I could swing the surgery itself but the time off from work (at least 6 weeks), I cannot do. That's time without pay. And I'd still have stretch marks and the big abdominal scar from two previous abdominal surgeries (the up-and-down kinda scar, not the bikini-cut kinda scar--where are my technical words tonight?!). And as long as I'm not NAKED, you can't tell what my belly looks like. Sooooo...I opted not to spend the time, money and pain on the tummy tuck. *sigh* But if I won the lottery.....
