Anyone else totally overwhelmed this summer?

It's bad enough that I'm starting the nursing program in the fall. I think that alone would cause me stress if I had to think about it. But I CAN'T think about it, because I have too freakin' much OTHER stuff I have to get through before that even starts.

I started Microbiology this past week. This is on the internet. This will last until the beginning of September.

I start the CNA course in two weeks. This will be every day from 8-4 for five weeks.

I'll have a one-week breather after the CNA course ends before I start A&P I, which will last until October.

The week before the fall semester starts, I'll be taking a one-credit, one-week Nutrition course.

There will be two weeks in late August-early September when I'll be taking Nursing, A&P, AND Microbiology simultaneously.

I'm just completely overwhelmed. For the past year, I've been taking one, two classes at a time, slowly getting me prereqs done. The most I've done at one time was two 3-credit classes. This summer I'll be taking a total 14 credits!!

Oh yeah, and this is on top of my regular life, which is two kids (6 and 4), working at home on the computer part-time, and running a home business.

I'm just completely overwhelmed thinking about it. I'm actually looking forward to this fall when I'll *just* be doing the nursing classes. :rotfl:

The city and state that I'm from, just started an LPN program for the weekend. It's a Friday and Saturday class and it lasts 2 years instead of the 10 mo. program. I'm getting ready to start A&P this summer and Fundamentals. We basically have no pre reqs before starting the actuall LPN school. It is all tied in together which makes it easier for me to be able to work and study. Yes, it takes longer to graduate, but I still have time for my family, work, and study.
Gosh, thanks for your vote of confidence. :rotfl:

Well, I don't really have a choice in my schedule; these are all things that need to get done before I start in August. So hopefully I'll prove you wrong.

I hope so Klone....I wish you the best of luck. But my health was ruined by keeping this kind of schedule, and I'm 25 years old, formerly felt like 18 but now going on 50.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so negative in my original post. I was just concerned for you, that's all. I hope you do prove me wrong because I've been in your shoes and I proved a lot of people wrong too.

Good luck!:balloons:

Since starting nursing school last year I have felt overwhelmed. Managed to get through my freshman year and in August I'll be a junior.

Summer courses I'm taking are:

M-Th 8:00-9:30 Microbiology Lecture

T & Th 10-1 Microbiology Lab

T & Th 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sociology

and am repeating Physiology course online

Also received my textbooks for the junior year and, upon the advice of the junior-level instructors, am starting to read up on what we'll be covering starting in August.

Luckily, I don't work but my husband is probably getting layed off from his job sometime in August or September and has been in contact with several head-hunters to find a new job. Just adds to the stress! arrrgggghhhh

i thought i had it bad with taking a simple mah099 class and getting everything mailed out and in order for the fall term. my deadline for everything is aug 2nd. i hope everyone will do well. like someone else posted just take it one day at a time. i know that is all i can do. :)

Actually no, I'm not overwhelmed at all.

Much barbecuing of meats, making of drinks, reading in the sun, road trips, and hiking of the national forests for me.

Though I am normally taking summer courses and sweating bullets like everyone else, I made a point to take this summer off so I could get my CNA certification.

Do you all hate me now? *giggles and scurries off!*

But to everyone who feels overwhelmed, look at your calendar. Thank goodness time passes. This will all pass too and I'm sure if you are concerned about your performance enough to post your worries here - you'll do fine! Hang in there lil nursies-to-be! I know I will through the whole process. :)

As wierd as it sounds, you get used to the madness. I'm in my second year now and i'm taking: Transition to the RN role, Care of the older adult, and comp. peds. I attend lecture M-F 8am to 2pm (30 hrs) and I work 20 hours on the weekend as a bartender. Being single, I'm not sure how people with families to care for can do all of this! -Benny

hhmmmm, I finished a CNA course (75hrs) in May. I missed 4 hours and had to make them up b4 they would let me sit for the state exam. Others missed 3 and 4 days of clinicals and they had to make them up b4 they could sit for the state exam.

The school was very willing to work something out with us regarding "make up". They offered CNA classes during the day, night, and weedend. They just had to make sure that if we needed to make up clinicals that we were with a class that was actually doing clinicals. And if we needed to make up lecture, that the class was on the lecture that we missed. Why don't you just check with the CNA school to see about their make up policy. I'm sure they will have something to accomodate you, that way you can focuse on your Med-Term class. Good Luck.

Thanks for your input. I plan to speak to them (CNA instructors) Monday to see what I can work out.I live in central KY. and was told 15 was the class limit by law, soooo that is why I was concerned about any make up time with another class. By the way is the CNA program very hard and does it require alot of study time? Thanks again CRB613
