Anyone else totally overwhelmed this summer?

It's bad enough that I'm starting the nursing program in the fall. I think that alone would cause me stress if I had to think about it. But I CAN'T think about it, because I have too freakin' much OTHER stuff I have to get through before that even starts.

I started Microbiology this past week. This is on the internet. This will last until the beginning of September.

I start the CNA course in two weeks. This will be every day from 8-4 for five weeks.

I'll have a one-week breather after the CNA course ends before I start A&P I, which will last until October.

The week before the fall semester starts, I'll be taking a one-credit, one-week Nutrition course.

There will be two weeks in late August-early September when I'll be taking Nursing, A&P, AND Microbiology simultaneously.

I'm just completely overwhelmed. For the past year, I've been taking one, two classes at a time, slowly getting me prereqs done. The most I've done at one time was two 3-credit classes. This summer I'll be taking a total 14 credits!!

Oh yeah, and this is on top of my regular life, which is two kids (6 and 4), working at home on the computer part-time, and running a home business.

I'm just completely overwhelmed thinking about it. I'm actually looking forward to this fall when I'll *just* be doing the nursing classes. :rotfl:

I know how you feel. I had to leave my classes the last 6 wks. to care for my g-daughter in another state. My daughter is just finishing her nursing. While I was gone (dont ya just know it) I was accepted to the nursing program. I now have to finish 2 classes, do my CNA, eng2, algebra and med term. by AUGUST!!!! :uhoh3: I dont know whether to be happy :rotfl: at being accepted or cry :crying2: over all I have left to do. I have a problem if any one has any suggestions I would love to hear'em. My CNA class is 5/24/04 until 6/25/04. My medical term. starts 6/22/04 both classes same time same day. I spoke to med. term. instructor about missing first two days and making them up from classmates notes/ tape recording, he advised me to be there. what do you think my odds are with missing last two days of the CNA classes? I know its a 75 hr. course Lord I need a way around this mess any ideas???? Oh yeah med. term is at one school and all the rest of my classes are at another one about an hours drive apart! Thanks and good luck to all CRB613

Bachelorette program...lol.

I'm taking Med-Surg (7 credits) and Gerontology (2 credits) over 8 weeks. I hear it's not a barrel of laughs, if you know what I mean.

will be starting a Microbiology class online>>

Many here state they will be taking an online Microbiology class. Is this offered by your institution? I'm wondering where I could find one that my college would accept the credits from.

hhmmmm, I finished a CNA course (75hrs) in May. I missed 4 hours and had to make them up b4 they would let me sit for the state exam. Others missed 3 and 4 days of clinicals and they had to make them up b4 they could sit for the state exam.

The school was very willing to work something out with us regarding "make up". They offered CNA classes during the day, night, and weedend. They just had to make sure that if we needed to make up clinicals that we were with a class that was actually doing clinicals. And if we needed to make up lecture, that the class was on the lecture that we missed. Why don't you just check with the CNA school to see about their make up policy. I'm sure they will have something to accomodate you, that way you can focuse on your Med-Term class. Good Luck.

I often wonder what we'll do once this ride is over and we have sooooo much free time. Won't that be a joy! I have a calandar and happily check off each day that is completed.

Just a suggestion.....I am not sure of your reasons for taking the CNA course since you begin your nursing curriculum in the fall.......BUT

we were told that after our first semester of nursing we were the equivalent of a CNA (without the exam/certification, obviously) and after the second semester (MED-SURG I) we were qualified enough to be a nurse tech at any hospital in the area.

Also, our nursing program "staggers" the start dates (30 students every 3 months) and students had the option of moving their start date if there was an opening (or willing student who wants to trade..ie: starting earlier so you can start later)

I know this varies from state to state and school to school....but perhaps you should rethink your reasons for adding all these classes and TONS of stress.....

The CNA course is a prerequisite for starting the nursing program. Every person in my CNA class will be nursing students. Our school doesn't stagger the start dates - there's August entrance, and January entrance. I'd rather bust my *** for 3 months this summer than have to put off starting the nursing classes until January.

klone - this is too much. Your health is going to suffer, mark my words.

Gosh, thanks for your vote of confidence. :rotfl:

Well, I don't really have a choice in my schedule; these are all things that need to get done before I start in August. So hopefully I'll prove you wrong.

I have the same problem-right now i am taking microbiology, intro to nursing (CNA), A & P 1 AND PN Role Concepts! They are all 8 week courses so you can imagine what the homework is like...i am working a full time job also:uhoh21: for two attorneys as a legal assistant. Its nice to know that i am not the only one who is overloaded this summer. Take care and we will both have to try and take things one day at a time.
