Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

How long does it take after you pass the CCRN to get the "paperwork"? I'm assuming there's some sort of certification card or something...the reason I ask is that I'm applying to grad school next month and want proof of my CCRN included (provided I pass, lol!). Thanks!
You will DEFINITELY pass. You will get a certificate that day that states that you have received your certification!! Very cool. It has your picture on it and everything. The computer is set up in such a way that you take your own picture before you take the exam... pretty cool, huh?? :lol2:
HI. I just took and passed the CSC the first of Febuary. I have recovered hearts for 5 years. It was the hardest test I have ever taken. Harder than the NCLEX, harder than the CCRN (I know...hard to believe). I only used a book by Robert Bojar that is recommended on the AACN website. I took my book to work and anytime anything madde me go hmmmm..I would go look it up. Well, after work or at lunch, never much time to do it during my shift. The thing that made it hardest for me was how different it was from the way MY hospital practices. I would say 50-65 % was straight hemodynamics and which is the BEST choice or what would you do FIRST. And my ospital RARELY uses Swan's anymore so that made me think. But they gave you the CVP, MAP, UOP, HR and I guess I did okay on those questions (I passed anyway). I would have felt much better if there had been more study material or a sample test the way there is for the CCRN and you can judge where you are at. PM me if you want more info. Good Luck. I am the first RN to take and pass the test in our hospital. I took the CCRN in Sept and the CSC in Febuary.

congratulations!!!
ccrn & csc!!
awesome!! way to go!!
thanks so much for sharing your victory! what an accomplishment to achieve two major certifications!! very cool!! :yeah:
I passed the cmc today!!! definitely the hardest exam i've ever taken! i also passed the csc last month, it was also a lot harder than ccrn, but cmc easily tops it it terms of difficulty.. I think cmc is more challenging because of the wide scope of topics that you have to study.. htn, cardiomyopathy, every cardiac disease and interventions known to man..lol.. anyway Im so happy im done with it.. now i dont know what to do with my review materials.. since my unit will not be reimbursing anything from my ccrn to these cardiac sub specialties i might sell my review materials on ebay or something.. its kinda expensive taking those tests (most of the expense is on the review).. Im just happy now that I dont have to retake anything..lol..

please note to all of my online friends....the title is cvicurn2003 rn, ccrn-csc!!yay i passed!!! it was soooo hard. we don't utilize swan's on our hearts much and most of the questions were hemodynamically related. fortunatly, they gave us enough information (like cvp, uop, ct drainage, map, hr) for me to determine the "hopefully" correct answer. the way we (at my hospital) practice is so not what they asked. but it is over and i passed!!! yay!!!
sorry, i am so late to the party!!!!!
congratulations, cvicurn2003, ccrn!!
Thanks deeDawntee and everyone! yep this thread has been very helpful to me.. for everyone who's taking the ccrn and probably sub specialties in the future, know your hemodynamics by heart.. those always comes out.. learn your diffential diagnosis,(eg, mitral valve disease, right sided hf, cardiogenic shock, etc.), and when you get good at it, these questions are going to feel like bonus questions for you.. i had probably 12-18 hemodynamics question in ccrn, and around 8-12 each on the csc and cmc.. those are going to be real lifesavers especially when a lot of questions that are coming out are not familiar to you.. so good luck to everybody.. i'm just around if you guys have any questions.. :nuke:
