Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

I decided to do a Pass CCRN test tonight and got 106/150. That is encouraging since I haven't been studying as much as I should be!

i passed my ccrn today with an 86%

personal facts:

1. ccu rn for 18 months.

2. studied for 4 months off and on, crammed final week.

3. watched all laura gasparis' dvds

4. listened to david woodruff ccrn study to and from work only.

5. used dennison's practice tests on occasion. only scored in mid 60's consistently.

6. heard the ccrn exam was nearly impossible. it was complicated, but not impossible with the aforementioned materials.

good luck!

congratulations!!!!!

Way to go!! You are almost there already!! Several other nurses on this forum also reported scoring lower than they did on the real test, others however (me included) scored almost exactly the same. No one has said they scored higher on the Dennison questions than on the real test, so I do think it is a great gage to judge readiness and as much of a guarantee of passing as is possible. You will definitely be ready! Have you set a date?

I haven't set a date yet. I probably will soon!

minimal support at work, no bonus, no ccrn on the tag. mostly did this for personal goal and self learning. some of the driving force was to disprove the illusion that the exam is too hard. a lot of my cohorts thought i was lacking experience, but i am the curious "dive-in head first type." the type who is always ready to learn and teach what i know.

Pleased to meet you! I think you fit right in here. Seems like a lot of us fit the type of person and nurse that you are describing yourself as... I soon learned to keep the fact that I was taking the CCRN to myself for similar reasons that you describe. Now that it is over, I think those who don't have their CCRN are just looking for stuff I don't know at times. God knows, I don't know everything, just trying to be as competent as possible....

Again, congratulations!! Keep us up to date as to how it is going with your coworkers...

So, do I have to become a member of the AACN before I take the CCRN, or is it more beneficial to wait?

You don't have to be a member to take the CCRN, but if you do, it saves you (a grand total of..) $3.00, and then you have access to their free CEU's right away. You also get a couple of magazines which are very good. (bimonthly, I think...). They also have conferences and local chapters which you have easier access to... I think it is well worth the fee.

How is studying going??;););)

I studied a lot today. Found out we get a $2K bonus now if we get our CCRN!!! Whoo hoo!

I'll still on track for Summer to take the test. I am actively trying to take the best, most complicated patients now.

Wow!! That is an impressive financial incentive to get your CCRN!! I'm glad to hear organizations are valuing it so much. Do you know if your institution pays the same for other certifications as well? Very cool.

You are going to be so well prepared and will remember the stuff giving yourself plenty of time...that's really great.

Hey share your interesting pts with us!!
