Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

For those of you who used the Pass CCRN CD for practice questions (and passed the CCRN):
What was your average score on the practice exams before you took the CCRN? Did it seem to correlate with your CCRN score? What is the score needed to pass the CCRN exam?
I've already watched the Gasparas DVDs and now am focusing on just practice questions from the Dennison CD. My average score has been around 60 (and anywhere up to 80%). I'm taking the exam in 1.5 weeks.
I took the review class this year as a sort of intro to the material. Now I want to get a good review book, then take the class again next year, then perhaps seriously prepare for the exam. Any recommendations for review books?[/quocan hi cane you sent to me som powr point file (lectuer ) about ccrn review pls becase iam week in english and i cant found the information i need this information. i am from jordan my name haitham i thank you very match

Hi putmetosleep,
You need 70% to pass the CCRN certification exam.
Personally, I was getting about 85% on the Dennison questions and I passed the CCRN exam at 85%. Everyone on this thread either did almost exactly the same, or they actually did a little better on the actual exam. So it is a very good predictor of when you are ready. I would say that if you are consistently getting about 75% and above on Dennison, you will definitely pass the exam ( just to give you a little cushion for possible exam anxiety, etc). You are doing great! If you can just get your scores a little more consistent, you will rock the exam!!
Good luck!! Keep posting and let us know how it is going!! ;)

Thanks so much for posting your question! (I will also email you.) I don't know of any power point files on the CCRN that are available to email to you. Do you have access to Amazon.com? You can get review material through them. Whether or not any of those references are translated, I don't know. I would recommend PASS CCRN by Dennison.
If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
I am hoping to take the test in June....studying with 3 other people every Tuesday night...plan on going to NTI in May but want to wait til after to take the test...have been member of AACN since 1998....Have seen Laura Gasparis VonFrolio in person....she is a really good lecturer...Have also seen Dennison in person...Both nurses are extremely smart...and worth the time to hear....The study group has decided to review the questions on the CD every week as many of the forum members have suggested....Hope it works!!!!

It will DEFINITELY work. So far it has been a fail-safe system. It will predict your readiness for that exam!!
I am SOOO jealous that you have seen Dr Laura in person and also Dennison. I have a strong feeling that Dr Laura was a whole lot more entertaining!! hehehe
Please keep posting and letting us know how your study group is going.
I would highly recommend http://pacep.org for a review of hemodynamics. You don't have to have all that material mastered for the exam, but it is well worth going through it a time or two.
I would love to hear updates on what you are all working on, perhaps others will feel that they are part of your group as well.
One last word, stay relaxed and confident as you go through the material. Try not to let yourself get overwhelmed. Some resources are very intimidating with too much information. Let yourself have fun. I believe a relaxed, confident mind will translate to a relaxed confident nurse during in the exam and in your practice.....
Good luck!! Let us know when you have your date so we can wish you well.....
For those who've taken the CCRN exam, what books, study guides or review courses best helped in passing? I've been an RN for 10 months (not long I know) and while I've learned a lot so far, I realize how much more I still have to learn. I've been working in the medical ICU at our hospital since graduation. I've heard from others who have taken it that the CCRN exam asks you to look at the scenarios more from a medical standpoint (diagnoses, etc) rather than a nursing standpoint. So I am looking for some study aids to help me get ready. Any suggestions?

Hey sasparilla (love your screen name!!) I'm very glad that sirI moved your post to this thread. There has been a lot of us who have achieved the CCRN in the past months (including myself) with a lot of great advice from others who have gone before us. I know that there are many others who are also currently studying for the exam who check in from time to time. I encourage you to post often, as being in contact with nurses around the country engaged in the same process is very empowering.
So that you don't have to look back too far in the thread, here is the tried and true materials that has given everyone what they have needed to pass. First of all, I would recommend Dr Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio's DVD course on the CCRN. http://greatnurses.com She is a dynamic teacher and is also a character in the nursing world that I think all nurses should know about. She has been very empowering to me just by listening to this course. Also, the second MUST HAVE, is Robin Donohoe Dennison's PASS CCRN. Don't use the book to study from but use it as a reference only, there is just too much information for effective and efficient studying. What is invaluable though, is the CD of questions that comes with the book. Some of the questions are verbatim as the actual exam and we have found that the practice tests will predict almost exactly the actual score you will achieve on the CCRN!! How cool is that? You will know when you are ready. If you go on Amazon.com, you can order it there. Don't pay attention to the reviews on that site, the CD of questions, is worth its weight in gold.
Also, I would highly recommend the http://pacep.org course on hemodynamics. I wouldn't worry too much about the quizzes that correspond with the material, but just go through it a couple of times. It is taught extremely well.
Hey, everybody who is studying, how is it going?? Why don't you check in and let sasparilla know she is not alone??!!
I check this thread every day, so if you have ANY other questions, please use this forum!

Hello bfjworr! You have definitely found the right thread!!
The Pass CCRN (Dennison, 3rd edition) is definitely enough test questions to get your certification. What is invaluable is the CD of questions that comes with the book. We have found that the percentage of correct questions you attain on that CD correlates almost exactly to the real exam. A few people have actually done better on the actual exam than on the PASS CCRN CD, but no one has actually done worse. So we have found that it is an excellent way to predict when you are ready to take the exam and that you will pass!! Some of the questions are verbatim the exact same on both. Don't study from the book, it is way too much information, but use it as a reference. The best price is on http://www.amazon.com/Pass-CCRN%C2%AE-Robin-Donohoe-Dennison/dp/0323025927/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203936042&sr=8-1
There are a lot of courses out there that will give you the information that you need. But, what the consensus has been is the CCRN DVD review course by Dr Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio. She is such a masterful teacher and presents the material a way that really helps you learn. You will never be bored watching her course. Her website is http://greatnurses.com and she also has a book of questions with rationales that many have found helpful...
Also, the website http://pacep.org give an awesome 2 part tutorial on hemodynamics. I didn't worry too much about the quizzes, but going through the tutorials is extremely helpful. The quality is awesome.
Have you joined the AACN? Do you have a timeframe in mind?
Thanks for posting! There are several nurses presently in the process of studying, which can be very empowering. There is no doubt that you will pass with those 3 references, no kidding!!
