Anyone else going crazy waiting for nursing school to begin?

Published

I start nursing school in August. I am going crazy sitting around waiting for school to start. I didn't take any summer classes and now I wish I did. I don't have a job and find myself wondering around the house all day or sitting at the computer reading allnurses. Anyone else going nuts waiting for August?

I have gotten everything but my shoes, stethescope, and bandage scissors. I have been studying and read a bit in my friends texts. We start Aug. 15 and I am losing it waiting.. the minutes are creeping by.

Story of my life.

It should skip to August after July 4th :D

I remember the wait before i started my nursing course but TRUST ME enjoy the time off your having at the moment because the next few years will not stop! Its a hectic and very fast pace course, im nearly there but wow i cant wait till its over n i can finally breathe again! Im off university for 5 weeks holiday with a 3500 word essay to do, first time off since christmas and im so excited.....Good luck in your course but definetly enjoy your free time just now xx

No, definitely not. Once you start nursing school, you'll be begging for breaks. I love every minute of this. Around mid-year, I became sleep deprived almost every day we had school or clinicals. I can't believe I get to sleep 8 hours now! WOOOOW. Enjoy the time. You will miss it so much. If you really want, re-read anat and phys. Don't start early on NS subjects; you'll probably just confuse yourself. Review A&P, fluids and electrolytes, and you'll be good.

Mom4jesus... I know exactly what you mean but it will be time before we know it and we will be wishing for a break~ I just found out I am gonna be lucky enough to get an actual vacation (5 days 4 nights on a houseboat no less!!!)this year during summer vacation, so I kinda have that to distract me between now and when our classes start! Don't forget to brush up on your skills as we have that test on the 15th of August as well. I may also look for that fluid and electrolyte book to start with as well....at least I'll feel like I am doing something and not wasting my time this summer!

Good luck and cant wait to meet you the first day ~

That is so me right now...Even though I have a summer class right now, I can't wait for Nursing School to start. And I even have to wait a little longer, the Fall semester starts for me on Sept 4th....so I guess we need to try and enjoy the remainder of our summer. Thats reall a joke since it's 4th of July and I'm blogging on Allnurses.com......How sad is that!!!!:typing

I am not going crazy just yet! I got my acceptance letter three days ago. :yeah:I registered the other day. I am just enjoying the time off and trying to get myself super organized so that it will be smooth sailing come august :D

Well, I start NS September 3rd. I just got my course schedule and it hit me like a bullet "OMG I'm going to nursing school" LOL I guess I've been working so hard doing my Gen-Ed courses, I was just full steam ahead. And now, here it is. Our orientation is July 8th. We'll get our books for the entire program then. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm in A&P 2 during the summer. I have one week off after that and it all starts! I work as a hairstylist. I've already started getting my clients used to my new schedule (two days a week). I guess it all comes down to this. I wish everyone the best of luck mixed with hard work and prayers.

You guys are killing me! When NS starts you will be so swamped that this break will seem like a fairy-tale dream! Enjoy it! Rest! Get a good night's sleep without feeling guilty for not studying! Watch some t.v.! It will all be over soon! By the way, I know just what you mean-I spend WAY too much time on this site!:lol2:

I don't start class till August 25th. I found out I was accepted in April. So for about 2 months I was bored to death. I already bought all my supplies, all my books (off half.com and amazon for super cheap), and organized my whole house. So then I needed something else to do. So I decided to join a gym. I MAKE myself go everyday. I need to lose weight and build up my stamina for school. We will be doing a lot of lifting and bending. It's been a nice change. So far I've lost 10 pounds. I'm hoping to lose another 15 by the start of school. It will help me to have an exercise plan set in place when school starts. Even if I can only get in 15 minutes a day - it's better than nothing!:D Good luck to everyone

that's why i signed up for summer classes, so i wouldn't be all stressed waiting for ns to start. my summer classes are over on the 8 of july, and i start my first ns class on july 28th. so, i only have 20 days to truly be jumping out of my skin waiting for class to start. :D

but then again, i still have a lot of things to get done around the house. i am in the process of painting the outside of my house just to keep myself busy, plus whatever else i can come up with to fill the time.

so far, i have had a new fence built, gotten new solar screens for the windows, and i installed a new light fixture on the front stoop, rearranged my daughter's room and fixed her ceiling fan.

i have two more ceiling fans to replace, new ones sitting in the garage waiting for me to get to them. hopefully i will get my bathroom completed too, i need to paint, hang all of the new fixtures, and i am installing tile on the floor.

even though i have all of this to accomplish, i still seem to have time to think about starting ns.......

:yeah:

Ya'll better get all the sleep you can get. Contact a couple of teachers and try to get your books early and start reading. Or improve your reading ability: Read anything for 3 hours a day and improve your reading speed/retention. I am going crazy waiting for my senior year to strat, but I have a few books. Just wish they offered a class this summer.
