Thanks Daddy O...and good luck Joy Simone...the info that DaddyO gave u is definately on...The entrance exam that I took was the accuplacer and my class was the last one that they used it for, and since the HESI is used now it really gives you a good idea of how the exit exam is going to be at the end of Level IV...because as of right now my whole class is DREADING it!!! But like DaddyO said the program is dooable and we all survive SOMEHOW...so again good luck and welcome to the field..

I am currently a BCC Nursing student and I am graduating this May...YEAH!!! What I can tell you is that the program is great...It is extremely difficult to get in the program, and even harder to stay in, but you will be taught really well. We have some of the best nursing professors, and you will be surprised at how many Bergen Nursing grads you will see when you get out in the clinical sites. So good luck to you and I guess I will have to come back for another pinning ceremony when it's time for you to graduate...

I am graduating in May also, and I have already spoken to some nurse recruiters in the area where I want to work. They advised me to start doing the online applications in mid December so that you can start interviewing in the beginning of 2010...I hope this helps...Good Luck!

I totally agree with you. I graduate in May 2010 and I have started looking already as well...I like the idea of doing the ACLS class already. I scheduled one for this November and I kinda of thought that I was starting too early, but like you said it gives you a chance to get a couple more certs under your belt before graduation.

Good luck to you all that are about to start nursing school. I graduate this coming May 2010 and my first semester I was just as nervous. Everything that you have purchased already will surffice. The biggest thing is not the supplies, but the time management once the semester starts. Try to enjoy the little bit of summer that you have left because when school starts you will have no LIFE at all guaranteed. You worked really hard to get into the program, but you work even harder to stay in the program...The best advice I can give is stay up on the reading, care plans (make sure you buy a care plan book..it is a Godsend), etc..and do plenty of NCLEX questions. You will be just fine...Good luck to you all who are just starting out.

The first intervention for your patient has to be safety. With this patients decrease in strength and mobility you want to make sure that assist this patient with toileting if there is no catheter in place, so one intervention could be placing this pt on the bedpan prn. Also since the pt is decreasing neurologically, then you want to implement frequent neuro checks throughout the shift. You also want to assess for the degree of weakness in the upper and lower extremities. This patient is an excellent candidate for a care plane because they are at risk for so many things like ineffective airway clearance, impaired physical mobility, disturbed sensory perception etc...Go to you care plan book for help. I used Mosbys and Gulanick/Meyers during my critical care med/surg clinicals, and they give all of the interventions along with the rationales. I was just accepted into my local community college's RN program for Fall 2008. I will actually be 41 by the time I sit for boards. I have a 3.40 GPA and I was surprised when I was completeing my prereqs that there were actually so many other older students....Well, congrats to us because you're never too old to better yourself!!!!!
