Who else is having this problem?
Really -- there are no new grads on this site who are waiting for a Minnesota license and won't get it until their BON can go back to work?

I am guessing most people don't read this section.

A friend of mine lives in MN and is up for renewal in August- she was just saying the other day that she can't get her license renewed until the government shutdown/whatever is over.

Let's remember that the members of this website come from all over the globe and although we're growing by leaps and bounds, we don't always capture the people who might answer very specific questions like yours, DolceVita. I'm very sure there are other people who are in the same boat as you, waiting for the BON to get back to work so that THEY can get to work... they just aren't aware of allnurses.com yet. There are no posts on the Minnesota Nurses forum about the BON shutdown, which as PediNurseAimee said will also be affecting those who are due to renew, so my guess is that our pool of members from Minnesota isn't huge.
Not to add to your frustration, but I'm wondering how they're going to handle things when the DO get back to work... will they deal with the backlog of renewals first, since those people are already members and have given them lots of money over the years and who will not be able to work as nurses at all until their registrations are renewed? Or will they work through the first-time, and therefore more complex, applications first? The news isn't good for a rapid return to normal from what I've read. (I haven't lived in Minnesota for many years, so I've resorted to reading online new to get a handle on this.) The squeaky wheel gets the grease... have you called your local representative to express your opinion of this impasse? You have to hit 'em where they live, by telling them how little you think of their record so far and that come election time, you and everyone connected to you will be remembering how they've messed up your life. Another thing that occurred to me is that this is the second time in 6 years that this has happened in Minnesota. Perhaps there needs to be new legislation that extends the essential services list to include the BON and a few other similar agencies. While you're waiting you could be busy!

They don't care.
Really, they don't.
Minnesota voters did this to themselves by voting in Republicans who refuse to negotiate in good faith.
Sounds only too familiar. The government where I live has been in power for 40 years. People complain and complain about what they do or don't do, but come election time, they put their ticks in the same ol' box. (And this bunch wouldn't know negotiating in good faith if it bit them on the butt!!)
This doesn't affect existing nurses requiring renewal as the MN BON has granted an extension to them. They will not issue new licenses. So new grads a super stuffed if you took NCLEX after about June 30th.
Although it does look like some deal is about to happen.

I would check in the MN forums for more people who are effected by the MN state shutdown.

I'm going to get a license by endorsement and I can't even dl the forms until this is all over. I have a friend who tested for MN and can't get a license, either. Not to mention that they will not investigate violations of the law, which seems to my feeble brain to be a, you know, ESSENTIAL SERVICE. It's maddening and my brain, it boggles. For once, I'm glad I just have to live with a union-busting governor instead of your state's garbage.
FWIW, I responded to a thread that may now be in the MN forum, but it might have started out in general.
