what are you doing now? what extra classes are you or will you take? I was suppose to register for classes this week...but have not a clue what I should take next. suggestions? I stress out more not doing anything. I dnt want to regret wasting this fall semester. What do you think about med terminology? is it useful? or can I do without.
I will be done after this Fall. I plan on taking Statistics because many graduate programs (when I get there after I finish BSN) requires at least a lower division Statistics class, if not then an upper division. I figured since I know that I will apply for a graduate level nursing program one day, I might as well get as many things knocked out of the way while I'm still in "school mode."

Yes, you've got it right. Co-reqs are classes that are required to graduate, but not necessarily required to enter the program. HTH!
I agree with learning a lot on this site. It's amazing! I've told my MIL and two SIL's about it. MIL is already an RN, and both SIL's are working on pre-reqs too. They all can't wait to check it out.

Apgar,
My school RECOMMENDS that you take all the co reqs prior to applying for admission, and gives you points for each one you have finished. What that means is you have to finish all, but one or two before applying if you want to be accepted.
I have heard many people on this site say their school is the same way. I have heard a few others say that they were not even allowed to start taking them until they were already in the program. I would check with your program.
lilag02 and coolpeach, whew! I am glad I was on the right track without realizing all the terminology. My school gave me the check lists for the ADN, the check lists for the CSU and UC school systems and I've just been plucking away. I am glad to be ahead for an ADN (just pharm and PE to go) and making good headway on the BSN track. Next week I can check off English Literature/Critical Thinking and Public Speaking off the list... and get on to using the other part of my brain for science and math in Fall. :)

That's great that you're on the right track. I'm just starting out, but I'm one of those people who has to have a plan, so I sat down with an advisor. If I hadn't, I'd be lost! LOL! I'd be asking so many questions on here, I'd probably get kicked off.:chuckle No, really though, I would have had no idea that I could take those classes. There are classes like coolpeach mentioned that I have to take while in the program, but they're all the medically related courses. All the others, like coolpeach said, I get extra points for. There are 31 hours of co-reqs that I can take ahead of time, and with 27, I get the maximum points. So, long story short, when in doubt ask an advisor, or two like I did in order to get some REAL answers. Okay, off to buy my school supplies....
It is different for me, my school didn't require A&P I&II or Micro for a pre-req so I am done with pre-req's. I don't plan to take any nursing courses until fall 09 BUT I am taking A&P I & II this coming academic year so I won't have to take them during NS. I am trying to plan my first semester of the ADN program so all I will have to take is their Nursing I course (which doesn't allow me to be full-time) and then that is all I will need to concentrate on.
Hello everyone,
I am not sure whether anyone can help me answer my question - I am currently a Pharmacy Technician and is interested to take the RN course - any suggestions as to which school in So. Cal I should enroll. Also - any idea how much it would cost? How long is the pre-req?
Thanks for your reply.
:thankya:

I am finishing my last Pre-req (Micro) on July 30, and start Nursing school on Aug 2, so I definately had no down time this summer. As well as working 30-35 hours a week is kicking my butt. Along the way I took courses such as Race and Ethnic Relations, Black Authors, Georgraphy, History, etc. Just to give me a well-rounded education. Plus its a leg up since nursing involves diversity among staff and patients.
