Sure am! I LOVE Dr. Zoe! I took A&P with her too. All of my classes this semester are online, and it's a little unnerving. I keep thinking I'm going to overlook a deadline, or just forget about a class completely. But I would much rather do the patho now than at Barnes. How do you like the class so far?

For everyone who was interested int he Patho...I am taking it at St. Charles Community and it is transferable. It is also an online class, and you only have to come to campus for orientation, the midterm and final, so it may work for your schedules. St. Charles Community also offers Pharmacology, that's true, but it is only pass/fail, so I am fairly certain it will not transfer to Barnes' program. I am going to check around with UMSL or something for one that will transfer (maybe even Meremec), but I've been a little to busy to do it right now. If you ask your counselor at Barnes, there are lists for each school in the area and all the classes those schools offer that Barnes' will accept. I just live out in O'Fallon, so it isn't very convenient for me to stop by and pick one up. I will have to get around to that at some point this semester to check which Pharacology they accept.

I thought I would update this thread as i posted on another that I decided to stay with the Upper Division program for a bunch of reasons I hadn't thought of before (wanting good grades, not as much stress, etc..) I saw a friend's schedule who started the Upper Division this fall, and it is true that there weren't any clinicals listed for the first semester. Also, I am taking pathophysiology now so i won't have to have it on my shcedule during NS. I am also ging to try to take pharmacology beforehand if I can find a school that offers it audit.

Karen confirmed for me that they have added the fall '09 class, but by that time my husband and I had talked about it and decided I should stay with the Upper Division program. The accelerated sounds very competitive based on some of the posts on here as well as the potential for other issues regarding faculty support. i don't mind working independently to get through the program, but I also have a family I'm raising and I will need all the time I can get to study. I want to get a masters and I think my grades should be my top priority and not how fast I get the classes over with. So I'm staying put!

Usually you need to check with the financial aid office of the school you are interested in attending and then apply for any that you think you might qualify for. Then you wait to see if they award you with one. I believe that you need to already be admitted into the school before applying. This has been my only experience, but someone out there may know of other alternatives.

I read on another thread that they have possibly opened a fall '09 accelerated program and I am waiting for confirmation from the school counselor about this. If it is true, I am seriously considering trying to switch from the upper division program into the accelerated. I have two little kids and hubby as well, but for us I think it would fit better with our family plans to graduate sooner than later. Additionally, I will commute to Barnes, and it may be that changing my husbands schedule for a year to help with the kids ends up being easier than having an up and down schedule for two years. I have a friend who is beginning the accelerated this January, and I am really looking forward to hearing about her experiences in the program. So far I've had trouble getting DETAILED info off the forum, and I think this is because the accelerated students are too darn busy to write much!!!

Listener, How did you find out about the accelerated beginning fall '09??? I am admitted for the Upper Division for '09, but I would much prefer to do an accelerated if it is available. i wonder if I could switch over.

I hate to say this, because I know how frustrated you are today and I don't know anything else about your experiences in life, but it sounds like you're coming to the realization for the first time that life really ISN'T fair. And I mean ISN'T fair beyond what our parents meant by it. You sound the way I felt when I was a teenager competing in a world competition for music. For four years straight I was deemed the SECOND best player of my instrument in the world under the age of 18. It drove me crazy to work so hard for so long (since I was four) and to never be picked first. In the end I realized, it isn't only about my contribution, it's politics. The politics of life. And the politics are just as real as anything else, and few of us escape them. It sounds like you are a very dedicated, hardworking, successful student. The only way to view it is to be happy that you have realized this truth earlier rather than later in your career. From now maybe you will be more aware and savvy in you endeavor. Above everything else, DO NOT QUIT!

I am taking patho as a pre-nursing course. Our book is Understanding Pathophysiology by Huether. I also bought but haven't really opened Pathophysiology Made Incredibly Easy. I enjoy our text, and I've read others in the Made Incredibly Easy series and highly recommend them.

I have the Calculate With Confidence book as well, but I have not gone through it yet. I bought it because a dosage exam is required for acceptance into the St. Charles Community College program, which I had been planning on taking before choosing Barnes-Jewish. I plan on working through the book, though, before my nursing program begins next fall. I do know that if you are interested in taking an 8 week dosage class using this book that the class begins in October at St. Charles Community College. They only meet one evening a week for eight weeks, and that might work for your schedule.

Hey PoshGirl, I'm so excited for you:yeah:! I just LOVE things that are as functional as the Zuca seems to be. There is nothing that makes me happier than finding something that fits a real need in my life and lasts a long time. It has to be great not to lug something around, and not to worry about it something tipping over. No matter what, you won't have to sacrifice carrying something that you might need because there isn't enough room. Congratulations!!!! PS - What AMAZING delivery!

Awesome! Let me know how you like it. I have not ordered mine yet because I am still pre-nursing and this semester all my classes are online. So I don't really have a good excuse to explain the purchase to my husband yet! Let us know if it is as fantastic as it looks!

I am still going to school, so i haven't actually worked as a nurse at the VA, but my brother was in it as a patient three years ago. I can tell you from our personal experience there that it is a very poorly run hospital in general, and my conversations with the nurses on his floor indicated that they all hated their jobs. I've been in a lot of hospitals as my father is a surgeon, so I promise that I'm not just saying this as a reaction to our own personal experience at the VA. My father was a dean of another VA hospital elsewhere in the US and he was never satisfied with the care and functioning of that VA. I can safely say that our family found the St. Louis one to be far worse.

The Zuca pro is designed more for salesmen and air travel. The Sport is the one that has the school related accessories and compartments in it. I am looking forward to having it for school because of all the ways it is balanced better for pulling along behind you. Also, it will be nice to use it as a seat when you are waiting in the halls. I just hate having to sit up against a wall on the ground.

I completed the Chem with my first degree, but I agree that it does seem strange that it wouldn't be required for the accelerated at BJC. One would think it would be esential to being able to learn everything twice as fast.
