  1. I have been with the VA here in Danville for 10 years now and love it. Great benefits and pay! Not to mention I love taking care of our Nations Veterans. The hiring process is very long but dont get discouraged... I would recommend it to anyone.
  2. It is possible...but very very hard...I worked full time and have children ages 2, 3 and 9....I just finished my first year and took my NCLEX PN today... As long as you have a good support system and very focused you can do it!!
  3. I just finished my LPN program and took my NCLEX test today and awaiting results....anyway...I start the RN part or Level II in the fall and from what I hear the RN part is not as hard because it is basically a repeat of the LPN with a little more in depth along with some clinical stuff that LPNs cannot do like starting IV's. I also think it was harder for me because the nursing program is a whole new world. I had to get used to all the studying and eat, breath and sleep nursing whereas you are already used to it by the time you get to the RN part. You know what to expect. Good luck!!
  4. I agree....I also live and work in the same town and see a big difference in nurses that have a BSN or ADN. A BSN program is more buisness than clinical type nursing. You will learn a lot more nursing hands on stuff in an ADN program, if that is what you are wanting. Not to mention, from what I hear, the NCLEX is more of a clinical nursing exam.
  5. Do you have ATI books? Great tool to help summerize the material and it is easier to understand and retain.
  6. wow..all I said was that I heard they lost it, sorry to offend you. I know many of great nurses that graduated from there not saying it is a horrible school just Danville.
  7. Hello, I work at the Danville VA in IL. I have been here for 9years as a Cna but I am also in Nursing School. Since I have been there for so long, if I were to come back here as an Lpn I would not make much more money until I became an RN. Other than that we do get wonderful benefits and pay as long as you have experiance. A grad nurse would not make as much to start out. My advice is to work somewhere else first for aleast a year. Working for the goverment does have ups and downs. Daytonite was right in most aspects.
  8. I did great on the English but my math was horrible. I had to start at the very beginning in Math and Science, but it was a good thing because it helped in my other pre-reqs. Dont worry, it goes fast. I cant believe I start the nursing program in the fall already. Good luck...
  9. It is good. I have worked here for 9yrs and wouldnt work anywhere else.
  10. Wow guys, I guess I am not alone either...I lost my son at 38 weeks. He was considered a stillborn but it is rough no matter how old the little one is. You will get through it but never get over it. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You are in my prayers
  11. Wow, are you sure you want to take micro and a&p along with something else? A&p2 is hard enough alone. I just finished micro in the summer and that was pretty easy for me but a&p2 about killed me. Good luck!!
  12. I am not pregnant now but I did have a baby during my pre-reqs....I now have an 8yr old, a 2yr old and a 1yr old. It is hard but can be done...Congrats!!!! I start the program in the fall
  13. Which college do you go to? I am going to Dacc. My clinicals are on Thursdays. Not sure where, but I work at the Va as a Cna, so if you have any questions, let me know
  14. I would take some electives that are possible a pre req for a bsn program or something like that. Maybe even a cna class, medical terminology or nutrititon.
  15. I live in Danville and I would rather go to Eiu. Danville is a horrible place to live. Our crime rate has gone up so much it is scary just going to the gas station.. Besides I hear the Danville campus lost its accredidation.
