Hello. I was just wondering if anyone was considering going back to school and becoming an RN. If so how are you going to go about doing it. A bridge program? If so which one do you have in mind. Just curious. Thanks.
I have just started the RN program for Excelsior. I'm very excited about the program and the freedom it gives me by not having to be in the classroom during the day. Gail
How is that program? I am actually considering that one myself, but isn't that the one where you have to go to New York for the weekend of clinical at the end? Not sure if I would really want to go that far...
I am currently 2nd semester LPN to RN program. I will be finished May 2006. I am in a local Community College program.
hey mhull , are you in J'ville by any chance?? :) i'm an LPN student @ CCCC right now, and will start bridge in Jan 06. I'll graduate in May and once i --hopefully--pass the NCLEX-PN, one step closer to my goals. :balloons:
i decided to continue right away, so school is still in my blood--and i have been told by many nurses that it is hard to get back into the school routine.
well, good luck to you--and if you are here @ CCCC, stop by and say "hello".

My advisor says if you really study hard, there should be no problem taking a test Q month or two months. I hope to be finished in 1 through 1 1/2 yr. The clinical is a 2 1/2 day weekend, and then on to state boards. The study guides for the program that I am in are great. You don't have to buy textbooks, and they send you all the study guides you need for your degree, be it ADN RN or BSN RN. I have gotton all my material, and as scarey as I thought it would be, I was releived when I looked through the study guides. It depends if you have any core satisfied or not. If you don't, you can get your core out of the way with them. If your interested you can email me at [email protected] and I will be more than happy to put you in touch with my advisor. I know I am really excited about it. I know there are several programs out there, but, I felt after investigating that this is the right way to go. I know another nurse that went this route and she said she would do it the same way again!.
Hope that answers your question. Good luck in your decision.
.....so how long does it take to complete this course. And how much money??? Thanks!
Been there, done that. I got my ADN at 46 in 1993. I'm sure glad I did. It was a lifetime goal of mine and I finally did it. Am I sorry NOPE!!!! But it was a real eye opener in the real world. I would still do it all over again.

Are you aware of an online program at a college there in Salt Lake City. I heard of them and a friend of mine had some info and lost it. I would love to get in touch with them. If you have any clue I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks CeCiRN,
I have just started getting my ADN and I am taking the study guide, program. I am too old to be able to sit in the classroom, and besides I just don't have the time to go back to school. This way, I study at my own pace and take my tests when I want to.
How long did it take you????? I am 52, and just want to do it at my pace.

Nope sorry, I am not in J-ville. I am in "Mayberry", NC.
