Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

is the essay supposed to be a fluid 2 page essay or are we supposed to write 6 small essays?

a fluid 2 page essay

Hello everyone,

It is great to read this thread and know that many people share similar anxieties. I submitted my complete application several weeks ago and now trying to keep busy and not obsess about what happens next. From what I remember from last year's thread, the interview invitations are not coming out until late December, so it is a long wait to see what happens. And like many of you I also agonized over my essay until I could not look at it no more, and just sent it in. It is a some sort of relief to get the application completed, so good luck to all of you who are still working on it. Let's keep this thread going for moral support... Now I am starting to worry about the future of financial aid in this economy, in particular student loans.

like sprinklez said - 2 pages in fluid essay form

The admissions officer did say though that if it was a couple of sentences over 2 pages that it was not a big deal. However, if it was getting to 2 and a quarter pages then that was too much.

Ok LillyB you're scaring me a bit!

My name is also Lilly, I'm applying to YSN and I'm from CT

too weird!

hi everyone! i have a stupid question (what, there are no stupid questions? just you wait...) i took the GREs and did what i thought was very well--almost-700s on both--but today i just got my writing scores back: 4/6. there aren't any guidelines that i could find about the writing section--is this a bad score? do they even care? i actually have some professional writing credentials in my past, so i'm not tooooo worried, but some advice would be so helpful.

also, how wonderful was that email from angela!

what email from angela??

I think at that meeting i had she said over 1000 on verbal/math and a 4 or above on writing. That's a fine score and I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you have professional experience

alright! my application is officially in! it feels damn good. now i just have to wait for recommendations to come in =|

Hi Everyone,

I am also applying to the YALE GEPN program. I haven't submitted my application yet though!

I plan on looking over my essay one more time tomorrow and then submitting it. I am also applying to medical schools at the same time but this is my first choice. No one really understands why I'd want to be a midwife instead of an ob/gyn, but whenever I imagine where I'll be next year, I imagine myself in this program. So...I'm hoping that this becomes a reality.

Looking forward to getting to know you all- I hope we're all there together next fall! :)

Hi everyone,

Submitting my application today! The essay is killing me...I think I have gone over it a million times! I am hoping that all of my recommenders get my recommendations on time (they have had over a month!). I love knowing that everyone is going through this together and I am not the only one ! Does anyone know when we can expect to find out if we have received an interview?

I remember that last year, the applicants heard about the interviews mid-December.

I submitted my application! Now it's just time to wait....

I applied to the nurse-midwife specialty, what specialty did everyone else apply to?
