Hi,
Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?
SEVILLAES, this is what ExpatHopeful said about the admissions stats:
The admissions person told me that almost all their students are GEPN, only 8-10 RNs enter to get their MSN and they have only a handful of PhD students. She also said that they usually get around 400 applicants, invite half for interview (200) and then admit about half that (100) and end up with around 80ish GEPNs.
I just submitted everything! I am applying for Family Nurse Practitioner...I am super nervous because I know that often the FNP programs are the most competitive because so many people apply for them. Now the waiting begins....
Thanks for the congrats!
Has anyone who has submitted their application visited the Yale forums?
When I submitted my app, I got this (among other paragraphs):
"As a way to help familiarize yourself with YSN, the School has established a discussion Board where you can ask various questions of one of our students. This discussion board is for our applicants only, so you will not find a link to it on the School's web site. Access the discussion board and set up your account at: http://messageboard.chatuniversity.com/yalenursing2 "
Hey guys! I was a GEPN student this year but had to drop out for personal reasons. I'm planning to start again next fall so hoping to meet some future classmates! I was active in last year's thread so am glad to see that there's a new thread started this year! I think you guys are doing great. It is really a huge process and commitment so keep up the hard work and it will pay off, as much as it may seem to the contrary. I can relate.
I'm from L.A. which is where I reside now. My specialty is FNP. Graduated in '02 from Penn and was interested in that program as well. So yes, I am going to be entering as one of the older students. :) I like to think of myself as one of the experienced students. hehe. Speaking of which, if you guys have any questions about the process, the GEPN year (as far as I could tell from my short month and half there this fall), or anything else, I'm here to help!
Good luck with everything in the meantime!
