Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

annie: i'm actually from CT. we can definitley meet in in new haven!

suga: i will be in town on the 21st.. if you're still around, it would be awesome to meet

minnesota: i'm not from the midwest but i did go to a small liberal arts school. which i think is good considering how small nursing programs are generally

Minnesota: I'm FROM Minnesota, but have lived in San Francisco for a year and a half. haha. I lived in Minneapolis for five years and went to the University of Minnesota.

Hardly anyone who lives in San Francisco is from here!

How can we contact those who want to meet up without posting our contact info online?

Ek.

I'm not familiar with this site because I only joined a few days ago. I'm on myspace, so if people wanted to send me info on there that would be private or vice versa.

Congrats Abbybaby and Minnesota, nice to see some more FNPers! Also Minnesota, was starting to think I was the only Midwesterner on this thread (I grew up in Chicago), how much snow do you guys have now?

Anyone else going to be around on the 19 or 20? My interview is on the 20th but I'm flying in the 18 or 19.

Also, does anyone know if there's any hotel deals this year? Last year it looked like they had a special rate with the Marriott which would sure be nice, I looked at the hotels around Yale and they were incredibly expensive! Oh well, hope at the very least I can get hosted for one night...

So there aren't any applicants here for the midwifery program?

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I got an interview on the 21st, and am applying for the pediatric NP specialty. I'm originally from CT but have lived in California ever since I graduated from BC in 2002. I moved out here to do Teach For America in San Francisco, and then moved down to the LA area afterwards, where I have been ever since. So, it looks like I may be returning to my roots in CT!

Looking forward to meeting everyone :)

Send me a message if you live in the san francisco/bay area and want to meet up beforehand or if you want to plan out hotel/dinner stuff.

I haven't booked a flight or hotel yet so I'd love to plan out stuff with people! I would love to stay in the same hotel as other people.

I'm planning to leave the AM of the 21st and return the evening of the 22nd or the AM of the 23rd. My interview is on the 22nd.

oh, p.s. i didn't mean to exclude people who aren't from the bay area at all! i want to meet up with everyone who wants to! we should all try to stay at the same hotel and get breakfast and go to orientation together!

message me on myspace if interested.

I'm staying at the courtyard marriot the 20th for my interview on the 21st and will probably hang around the 21st if anyone wants to meet up...

I think I am staying at the Courtyard Marriott as well, for the 20-22, my Interview is on the 22. Hope to see some of you for breakfast or something!

Hey Wannabe--

I'm also interviewing for the PNP specialty on the 21st! Also originally from CT--Somers, how about you? I haven't seen any other PNP-ers on here (or have just missed ya'll); anyone out there?

Hi! I'm new to the site. I was invited to an interview with Yale for the GEPN program, but I live in Michigan so I think I'm going to have to have a phone interview. Do you think that that will lower my chances of being accepted? Also, does anyone know the acceptance rate for the program? Thanks!
