Hi,
Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?
Ahh its exciting to see more Providence people! :wink2: I've had internships at Hasbro Hospital and the Centers for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine down there. Miche, what kind of research are you doing at Brown? One of my psych professors was doing alcohol research at Brown since his wife is a PI over there. I have had good friends that had research internships at both Brown and Butler (I actually interviewed for a research assistant job at Butler last spring). Butler is a fabulous psych hospital, and I thought the main building/campus was beautiful. Are you enjoying your work there sprinklez? What kind of research are you working on? Now I'm doing clinical research in the Boston area, but I really do miss Federal Hill, Thayer St., basically just all the amazing food and resteraunts haha. I still go down there every so often to go out or meet up with some school friends. I'm enjoying Boston right now, but **hopefully** we all will be enjoying New Haven around this time next year :)
i love providence! i will miss it indeed. I'm doing research on substance use at Butler. it's pretty interesting stuff. what kind of research do you do, suga? new haven's interesting but definitely not as cool or quirky as providence =)
No - actually I meant Boston College (should have realized there are probably a lot of "BC"'s out there! Where in CT do you live? I am originally from Fairfield, but also spent many years in Monroe. Good luck!!
Hey there,Are you talking about Brooklyn College? I also graduated from BC but in 2003 and currently reside in CT. My interview date is on the 21st but for oncology. Good Luck to you. I hope you get in.

I live in New Haven, CT. I am actually a Yale student just defended my thesis for the PhD degree.
Hi Yalienne,I am glad to see another Oncology NP applicant. Too bad that our interviews are on different days (mine is on the 23rd). Good luck!
It seems like there are not too many of us out here or in the Yale's NP forum. I am so curious how many oncology applicants they get. I actually ask that question but Angela and Brenda did not answer. I hope I have classmates to form study groups with if I get in.
Kimiij: I'm in Guatemala doing some public health research. I originally thought I'd just do a phone interview, but I realized I want to really see more of Yale and New Haven for myself to make sure it's where I want to go if I get in...so it will be a long trip, but hopefully an informative one.
Bidatheraptor: The email didn't say anything about a potluck, don't worry, you didn't miss anything! People on here have been discussing it, and that confused me. In reading the message boards from last years applicants it sounds like they had a potluck during their interview visits, but it seems as though they haven't shared that information with us yet...or at least as far as I know...

Yeah I did not hear anything about a potluck either. I bet you someone probably suggested that they meet for dinner or something after the interview and that is how this whole potluck thing got started.
