Hi,
Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?
Hey CharmedJ7!
I am also interviewing on the 20th! It would be great if some of us could meet up for dinner/lunch etc, or just to explore the town (I really want to get a feel for what living in New Haven would be like!). We should figure out how to exchange info (and by this I mean anyone who will be there during overlapping times) so we can all meet up!

Hey I'm new to this thing too.
I'm also going to be interviewing on the 20th for the acute care NP. I'm living in Providence right now so I was just planning on driving down that morning but if there's people around the night before maybe I'll head down the night before once I'm out of work.
Miche9182,
Where in Providence do you live? I just graduated from Providence College in May and just moved back to the Boston area. Did you go to school there? I'm applying for the psych specialty and won't be interviewing until the 21st, but may go down a day early to check out New Haven.
Hey suga70,
I just graduated from Roger Williams in May and have been working at Brown in a research lab since then. I'm actually over by the PC campus...drive by every morning on my way there. I definitely like the idea of checking out New Haven. I haven't really been there besides the half day info session at the school
Hey there,
Are you talking about Brooklyn College? I also graduated from BC but in 2003 and currently reside in CT. My interview date is on the 21st but for oncology. Good Luck to you. I hope you get in.
Hi everybody,Just wanted to introduce myself. I got an interview on the 21st, and am applying for the pediatric NP specialty. I'm originally from CT but have lived in California ever since I graduated from BC in 2002. I moved out here to do Teach For America in San Francisco, and then moved down to the LA area afterwards, where I have been ever since. So, it looks like I may be returning to my roots in CT!
Looking forward to meeting everyone :)
Hey all,
I just found this forum via the message boards that Yale sent us! I also am interviewing for FNP on January 23rd.
Minnesota: I'm originally from Minnesota too (although I currently live in Guatemala), and also a small liberal-arts college graduate!
Is anyone planning to stay with a current nursing student for a night like it mentioned in the email? I was thinking it might be a good opportunity to get an insider's perspective (not to mention save some money), but so far everyone has just mentioned hotels.
Any other details on the pot luck? I am also confused by this and trying to figure out all of my travel plans since I am flying from Guatemala to NYC and going back and forth from there to save money. Is anyone else planning to fly in and out of Laguardia?
Can't wait to meet some of you in January!

I am planning to stay with a current nursing student for the same two reasons as you- getting an insider's view and saving money! Sandra said she submitted my request to a student liaison and that someone would be getting in touch with me soon.
You're coming from a long way. What have you been doing in Guatemala?

Hello everyone,
Congrats for those who got interviews
One step down, and one more to go before you find out if you are one of the future Yalies :)
Exactly a year from today, I was in y'all spot. I remember I got home that afternoon, crippled from an outpatient procedure while Fentanyl in my bloodstream was starting to wear off, and I found two envelopes on a dining table: the first one was a small, tan-colored envelope labeled: Yale University School of Nursing, and the other one was a rather huge, yellow envelope from one of the Yale's competitors in the West Coast. To make a long story short, the contents of both envelopes pretty much made one of the best days in my life (well, second to the email I received 2 months later
).
I wish you all the best, and I hope to see many of you in January (and of course, 80 of you in the Fall
)
