Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

CaliforniaGirl2 - That's cool, my interviewer is the head of the oncology master's programs at Yale. I guess I will see you at orientation!

anyone else Acute Care NP?

anyone else Acute Care NP?

yep :) acute care np here

oh good! I don't even know how many spots there are for ACNP. I assume they interview twice as many applicants as spots available. I guess i'll find out in jan...

I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing - specialty Oncology Nurse Practitioner. Is anyone reading this forum applying to this specialty?

Specializes in Psych/Mental Health.

My interview is on the 22nd.

I'm nervous, like everyone of course. Does anyone want to meet up who is going on the 22nd? It would be nice to have dinner, talk, whatever. I'm going to be flying out by myself.

My specialty is Psych/Mental Health.

Lemme know!

annie are you the same annie in the yale forum??

uclabruin: nice to "meet" you too! =). yale is actually the only program that i applied to cause of the no prereqs thing.. so hopefully this works out!

annie: im also doing mental health and will be interviewing on the 22nd. are you flying in the night before? it would be awesome to meet some people prior to interview day.

doesn't it seem like a lot of people are from california? thats pretty awesome

Hey Dark, i do have aim, but i can't figure out how to PM. There isn't a tab that I see for it. I'll play around later and figure it out.

hi dark--My name is annie but this is my only screenname, i just signed up this week. :)

sprinklez-i'm going to fly in the night before, i'd love to meet up beforehand in CA (I live in downtown San Francisco) or in new haven or whatever!

i haven't looked at hotels yet, have you?

i want to stay close!

ek!

i do NOT need to freeze in the snow, fall on my butt in heels (if i wear them) or get lost walking for fifteen blocks.

no thanks.

haha.

Its good to see some more mental healthers :wink2: I think the only differnece (from what I've read) in the child/adolescent and adult psych tracks is just a couple of classes so hopefully I'll get to meet you all (if i we all get in..crossing fingers!!)

Has anyone ever been to Yale before? I heard its beautiful! I'm only coming from Boston so it will only be a 2.5 hour drive which isn't too bad at all. I can't beleive how many people are coming from California! Thats awesome! I think I'm coming down to Yale the 20th and staying over night for my interview on the 21st. Will anyone be around on the 20th or 21st?

Abbybaby: Thanks for taking the initiative to call! You inspired me - I too contacted YSN and found out I am being invited to interview! The faculty member interviewing FNP hopefuls must be slow on getting back to the admissions office regarding scheduling.

Are there any other Midwesterners out there? Small liberal arts college graduates?
