Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

Maybe they are going down the list in alphabetical order? My last name starts with a "W". Or by specialty... Who knows.

My guess was going to be by when you applied since I still haven't heard and I applied pretty much smack on the deadline. Plus my last name is J and I believe other people from the FNP specialty have heard. Maybe they're picking out of a hat?

Hey guys, congrats to everyone who got an interview and sorry to all the people that didnt :(. But good luck with all your endeavors!

As for me, I got an interview for the 20th. I'm really excited but have to get ready to bundle up for the cold! I'm one of those Californians that thinks 60 degrees is chilly...

suga70, I applied for the psych/mental health specialty too, but to the adult one. But PNP too huh? So sounds like you're much more interested in working with kids. That's awesome! Good luck on your interview!

I'm really sorry about those who did not get offered an interview, good luck on the rest of your schools! I still maintain this is all kind of a crap shoot sometimes and I'd be willing to bet eenie meenie minee moe (wow, how do you spell that?!) figures in at least sometimes.

For those who did get an interview, hopefully I'll get a chance to meet some of you in January! Although I'm still reeling a bit in shock and have to keep re-checking that email, looks like I'll be interviewing on 20 January.

Best wishes all!

uclabruin428, when is you interview? Its nice to meet someone with a similar specialty! What made you interested in adult psych? I hope to do post-masters work after I **hopefully** get through (or at least get into) a direct entry program for psych, because psych is my passion. But I am extremely interested in comorbid disorders and physical disorders that are manifested through stress so I figured I would try and get the PNP afterwards.

Are there any other psych specialties out there? When is everyone interviewing? I'm very excited, but also very nervous! Good luck to everyone!

Got the email this morning, and I'll be down there on Jan 21 to interview. Good luck to all interviewing and/or applying elsewhere, and I'll see some of you in New Haven!

I have just received my interview notification. I will be there on January 23.

Anyone else interviewing for FNP?

hey guys!

i got my email yesterday morning. I'll be interviewing on Jan 22. It's nice to see more mental health track applicants! I'm applying to the adult psychiatric program as well... so is there a list of potential interview questions available out there? and would anybody like to meet up the night before? I'm pretty familiar with New Haven if anybody need food/boarding tips =)

Hey sprinklez,

How feasible is it to get to New Haven from NYC? I actually live in Montreal but it's exponentially cheaper to fly into NYC than New Haven so I'm leaning towards that, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to create too much hassle. Any thoughts?

I live in central CT and have taken the trip to NYC and back many times. I think that the best way for you to travel would be to take a cab or a bus/shuttle from any NYC airport to Grand Central Station and take Metro North train to New Haven which runs every 20-30 minutes and the ride takes about an hour and a half (http://www.mta.info/mnr/). The Yale School of Nursing is within walking distance from the New Haven train station. I think this is your best option if you don't want to rent a car. If you rent a car than it takes about 1.5 hours by highway with no traffic, but traffic very often is a big problem especially if the weather is not good or you are travelling during rush hours. Let me know if you have any questions.

Is there anyone else out there who still hasn't heard? I'm going crazy! Should I email them? Or just keep waiting....
