Nursing Students Post Graduate

I thought I would start another thread about Yale GEPN. Would like to hear from anyone and everyone thats applying to the program for the fall of 2008? Its obvious that all of those that applied for the fall of this year have gotten their acceptance letters and congrats to them all, hopefully I will meet them all next year. In the meantime, I would like to hear from those going for the fall of 08. What were your major/degree in undergrad? Where are u now in the application process?

Hope to hear from all...

Will you be at the potluck on the 17th?

I'm really hoping I'll be able to make it. I probably won't make it into New Haven until 4:30 or 5:00, but I'm going to do my best to be there. How about you?

I was also wondering if anyone knows the direction to/from the New Haven Amtrak station?

I'm flying in/out of JFK (simply because I hate flying on US Airways) lol.

TIA.

Has anybody looked into staying with current GEPN student? I haven't decided whether or not I would get a hotel room. I will be in on the 21st and out on the 23rd.

No, I didn't look into it because I figured that it might be a bit of additional stress to do so (what if my flight is delayed and I ended up getting in really late? that sort of thinking), and so I decided to definitely stay at a hotel. I made a reservation at the New Haven Hotel for $119/night. :)

After much consideration (yes, the Omni was calling my name as well ;)), I've come to the decision that it really is too expensive. I'm going to stay at the Premiere Hotel & Suites instead. They've got a really good deal, I think. ~$105/night including free wireless/breakfast/light dinner (M-Th). Plus, they have a free local shuttle. I called them to verify that this includes shuttle service to and from the interview. They said I just have to set up the times for pick-up and drop-off when I check in and they'll take care of it! It's only 1.5 miles from the SON, so I could always make other arrangements if the shuttle didn't work out for some reason!

That's a great deal! :) I do need to look into a shuttle if the New Haven Hotel offers one, otherwise I guess I'll just grab a cab!

Yes, I'll be there for sure! I fly in on the 16th, have my interview on the 17th, and so I'll definitely be there that night. I look forward to seeing you there if you make it!

I'll be at the potluck on the 17th too! I am hoping, in the interest of saving money, that I can stay with a current student, but the Premiere Suites mentioned above sounds reasonable. Anyways, I look forward to meeting everyone at the potluck!

You're right on the thought that it may cause the host some troubles, although in my case, I will be getting in around noon on the 21st, so I don't have to worry about getting in really late. However, my train back to NYC is at 7:30am on the 23rd. I'll just have to look and see how it goes. Sandra emailed me on Friday saying that they are still hammering out the plan for those who need to stay with current GEPN students. I will post and update as soon as I hear something from her.

I should have mentioned this earlier :o but I usually use hotwire or priceline to get a hotel room. The rates on both websites are substantially lower than published rates.

Also, this website http://www.betterbidding.com/ also helps me in predicting what hotel (hotwire) that I would get when I purchase it; and it also helps me in predicting the acceptable bid price on priceline. Just type in "New Haven" on QUICK SEARCH feature on the top page, it should bring you to the list of New Haven hotels with current bid prices.

Hope it helps.

Great, I look forward to meeting you then! :)

I look forward to seeing you guys there too!
