I thought I would start another thread about Yale GEPN. Would like to hear from anyone and everyone thats applying to the program for the fall of 2008? Its obvious that all of those that applied for the fall of this year have gotten their acceptance letters and congrats to them all, hopefully I will meet them all next year. In the meantime, I would like to hear from those going for the fall of 08. What were your major/degree in undergrad? Where are u now in the application process?
Hope to hear from all...

Hi Christina,
I'm planning to apply to the GEPN program this year and have a month left before taking my GREs. I'm also working on my personal statement right now. So much to do in the next couple of months! I'm also finishing up my undergrad degree in Biology right now. What about you?
I am in the process of writing my personal statement and I plan on taking the GRE in August. I have a BA in English and a minor theatre and the specialty that I am applying for is Women's Health. Currently, I am taking statistics since its the prereqisites for the program. Ive taken A&P, but I plan to take it over because I received a C but I want to have a B or better.

Hi-
I will be applying for Fall 08 in AAPN Oncology. At the moment I am undergrad at UC Berkeley. I am a non-traditional student (ie I am a 40 year old man) - my first career was in the wine business. My interest in cancer care is pretty multi-faceted. I've done some basic research in radiation biology and I am also interested in end-of-life care from a psych/social/spiritual perspective. At heart I am something of an advocate (and sometimes and activist) so another issue I feel strongly about is effective palliative care. As far a career goes, I am not quite sure what that will look like - whether it will be ward nursing, outpatient, hospice etc. I am pretty confident that i would like to incorporate some research into my work. As I mentioned before I have done some and the excitment of an interesting result is quite addictive. The Yale program looks very good. Do any of you know anybody who has been through it?
Christina - tell us about your interest in women's health. I volunteered at a community clinic and the the NP's who did womens health were way cool - very passionate about expanding access to care.

Hey all,
I may be applying to Yale in the fall. I'm looking at several schools in CT. Currently I go to U of Michigan and I'm majoring in English with a minor in biology. I used to be a cell & molecular biology major - and hence I have a similar gpa to yours, Christina. (I saw your other post.) I also had some health problems my first two years of college.
Anyhow, I plan on visiting schools in June and talking the the directors/ admissions people at different programs. I'm depending on my essays, senior year grades, and volunteer experience to get me in. Actually, I'm kind of leaning towards the diploma program at Bridgeport rather than one of the master's programs - but that's a whole other story.
Good luck to all of you with the admissions process!

I'm applying for an ACNP track :)
My undergrad is in Biology (I'm graduating this coming December!); I have been involved in 4 research projects throughout my undergrad and have been working/volunteering in the hospital for 2 years.
I haven't turned in my application yet, but I have everything ready to go.

I am applying to this program but haven't submitted it yet either. Been out of undergrad for 7 years now! Getting these essays hammered out has been very difficult for me - I'm definitely not in the academic mindset anymore!

I'm applying to the program this year, and just got back from a trip to New Haven...I loved it! The visit definitely put Yale at the top of my list.
I am currently an undergrad at Cornell and am completing an interdisciplinary Biology/Humanities major. I'm having a difficult time with the application process, as the health-careers advising at my school primarily serves premed students, so I'm not really sure what to expect re: competitiveness of admission.

At least you are getting some type of advising - I've got no support at all. Maybe I should see if my undergrad will even read my essays or something.
What other programs are you applying to? What specialty are you considering?
I'm applying to four programs this fall: Yale, Johns Hopkins, Columbia and Boston College. I'm primarily interested in WHNP programs.
I'm sure the career services center at your alma mater will be able to help with your essays; most schools have programs to help out their alums with job/grad school applications.
I'm so nervous! :uhoh21:
So am I....Time has flown by since the very day I was started the process of applying to Yale. Now I just pray that I at least get invited for an interview.
Kev what specialty are you applying for?
