I thought I would start another thread about Yale GEPN. Would like to hear from anyone and everyone thats applying to the program for the fall of 2008? Its obvious that all of those that applied for the fall of this year have gotten their acceptance letters and congrats to them all, hopefully I will meet them all next year. In the meantime, I would like to hear from those going for the fall of 08. What were your major/degree in undergrad? Where are u now in the application process?
Hope to hear from all...

I'm thinking about staying there (that or the New Haven Hotel)! Do you know if they have a shuttle service to the school? How are you guys getting from the New Haven/Tweed Airport to your hotels/students' apartments?
Thanks :)
Hi Lisa,
I'm flying into New Haven airport, and was planning on just taking a cab. I'm staying at the New Haven hotel. What day are you interviewing? Maybe we'll be there at the same time. :)

Hi Kens,
I'm interviewing on the 18th but will be arriving the night of the 16th (I'm coming from the Oakland airport and have 2 stopovers ). I'm planning to just explore campus on the 17th and go to the potluck that night. I'm about to book a hotel for the 17th at the New Haven Hotel since it's close. I'm down to meet up for coffee, too!
Can't wait to meet everyone!

I have some travel questions that hopefully someone can help me with!1)I'll be flying into JFK on the 17th in the AM and I plan on taking the metro north to New Haven. What is the best way to get from JFK to a metro north station (Is Grand Central the most convenient one?)?
2) Can you buy tickets for the metro north at the station, or do we need to buy them in advance?
3)How far is the New Haven station from Yale? And finally, are there taxis at the station?
Thanks! I know, I'm a dumb midwesterner...but I'll learn quickly!
1) You should get to Grand Central from JFK and take the MetroNorth to New Haven
2) You can buy tickets at the station - they have self-serve kiosks in addition to ticket booths at GC.
3) There are taxis at the station- Took this from the YSN Chat: YSN is about a half mile from the train station. When you walk out of the train station, go left on Union Ave. The first big intersection is Church St South. Take a right on Church St South. The school will be on your left. Also, if you come out of the train station and see a shuttle bus labeled the "Orange Line", jump on and tell them you're going to the nursing school. The Orange Line bus will be on the opposite side of the street from the train station.
Hey Kens-Sorry we missed you at coffee, but you're right, hopefully we'll be able to do it this fall. :) Did you make it to the potluck on Thursday? How did your interview go?
-Meg
Yes, I was at the potluck on Thursday, which was fun. I think my interview went well, but I have NO idea if I'll get accepted or not. How did your interview go, Meg??

I think mine went well, too! I feel like I did a really good job (despite being unbelievably nervous). But based on the fact that I applied to a very popular specialty (FNP) with lots of other VERY qualified applicants, I'm feeling pretty uncertain - but hopeful anyway! At least if I don't get in, I won't be kicking myself for not preparing for the interview. :) Overall it was a great experience, although I'm SOO glad to be home!
The middle of February couldn't come fast enough...

Hi Smit-
I unfortunately can't answer the first two questions (I'm flying into Hartford), but mapping the SON and the New Haven Station on google maps, it looks like they are literally right down the street from one another. Here's a link to the map.
Hope this helps!
