Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!
I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)
Thanks!
For those that need CPR, I talked to Kelly W. the third name on the NGSCU CPR info sheet, she is a NG nursing grad, very helpful and flexible if you need to set something up, I recommend you call her. Thanks, sk8inghunny, I realized there are lots of different cpr classes, would hate to take the wrong one! :)
Hey guys! I am doing my CPR class through a man named Cory McMillan. His website is Heart2HeartCPReducation.com. I am taking the BLS for Healthcare Providers course on March 21st if anyone is interested. Is everyone going to the meeting on April 9th? Also, does anyone know where we could try on the uniforms before we order them? I have no idea how the sizes run. So much to do in so little time! :)
I would also like to try on the uniforms before I order them. They are so expensive, I really don't want to get the wrong size! Maybe the company has a good return policy?
I will be at the info session on the 9th!
Is anyone doing the "mentor" thing that was offered in the packets we got?
For all those who were wait listed... I'm right there with you. I meet with my adviser tomorrow and I'm hoping to get some insight to where exactly I fall on the wait list. I was already told by the dept secretary that I was in the top portion of the list, but I don't really know what that means. Does anyone know how the process works for the waiting list? I know the original people who were accepted had so long to officially secure their spot but no everyone would. I wonder how many declined their spot and do they just send out a letter to the first person and then wait so long to see if they respond or what....anyone know? I'm trying to get a timeline on when to HOPEFULLY expect another letter (keeping fingers crossed)
The accepted students had to send in a confirmation in Feb. The next deadline for us is toward the end of April. I am guessing that those taken off the wait list will be getting something in May just going from our deadlines. Hope this helps! I know how bad it stinks to get waitlisted then sit and wonder. How did the meeting go?
I was waitlisted last year and got a letter offering me admittance at the end of May. I was in the top top of the waiting list. My friend was in the middle top of the list, got her letter towards the end of July.
You can return your uniforms if they don't fit and you do have to pay return shipping. They are very good about returns, so it's not a big deal and quite a few people had to do returns. I measured myself according to their guidelines and the top was super skin-tight, so tight I had trouble getting it off and the pants were big enough for 2 people to fit in them, so back they went.
If you're tall, you probably don't need to order the extra long pants. My friend is 6 ft tall and got the extra longs and had to get them hemmed.
Also, you have to order a polo shirt to wear for volunteering and for psych rotation and you can either order a mens or a womens shirt, depending on what you feel most comfortable wearing.
I got 2 complete sets of uniforms, since I knew that we'd be doing 2 days of clinicals the second year and didn't want to have to bother with just 1 set. I just throw them in the wash when I get home from clinical, dry them and haven't had to iron them if I get them out immediately, so looking back, 1 set probably would've been fine. It's up to you on how many you need.
Thanks for the info kmp5! Are they fairly stain resistant? I am such a mess sometimes, I know I will spill on myself all the time. I am hoping that I don't have to order new ones all the time because of stains. I finally started all of my immunization stuff today and how not fun was that! A word of advice - if you haven't gone in for them yet do it soon. Depending on what all you need it could take a few visits. I went ahead and got the flu vaccine, but I was told I would need another updated one this fall.
The uniforms are actually stain resistant, which surprised me. We were at the Sim Lab at the hospital practicing starting IVs and I got some of the fake blood on my shirt. I went to the bathroom to try to get it off and it blotted of with a paper towel and left no mark, no stain. They aren't pretty but what can you do?
Make sure that you keep copies of everything that you send in to the school, so you have backups. When we went to clinicals, we had to show our instructor copies of everything and have to have them to show the entire time we're in school.

My CPR class was offered for credit through GSC, so I used it to fill up my hours this semester. I have to be on top of things, if I don't do it now while I am thinking about it I WILL forget in a few weeks!
