  1. Yes, at NG you get your ASN first then go back for their BSN program. The ASN takes two years to complete and the BSN portion can be completed with one additional year and it can even be done mostly online if you want.
  2. I also didn't hear anything about needing to have the service learning shirt for the 16th. I will not have mine by then, and I don't see how it can be required. The uniform order form clearly states the August deadline. Also, how could all of the newly accepted students have time to order and receive their shirts by the 16th. It sounds like whoever you spoke with was mistaken or they haven't informed any of us and can't hold us responsible for something we couldn't have been aware of. Just my opinion on that matter. I am planning on ordering my uniforms this week.
  3. Nursing is a lot of science, and not just during school. I was intimidated by all of the science classes at first but also knew that I loved science and would enjoy learning more. If you really hate science that much maybe you should really think about if nursing is for you. There is a reason I did not choose a major in history or english.
  4. I applied to Brenau nursing and was accepted for Fall 2012. I decided not to attend because of the poor NCLEX scores and the fact that they are currently on some sort of probation for the scores. I also spoke to several 2012 graduates of the program and they confirmed that it wasn't a good program. I decided to go to NGCSU for my ASN and take the extra year to get my BSN. I didn't see the point of paying that much money for an education ($10K+/semester) when it wasn't a quality education. If you are interested in a private school and don't mind paying tuition check into the nursing program at Piedmont College in Demorest. They have excellent reviews and the NCLEX pass rate has been 100% for the last few years. I wanted to attend Piedmont but when it came time to decide the financial impact of a private education was just too much.
  5. Congratulations to everyone getting their letters!! I have spent close to $400 already, but my insurance is also horrible and I had to pay out of pocket for most of my shots and bloodwork. I did not have to pay the $200 confirmation deposit, I am guessing because I was a student at NGCSU several years ago. I made a list of costs (with my cost for shots, doctor, and bloodwork) and I will be paying around $850 for everything except books before the semester starts. Just to clarify that depending on what you need the costs might be pretty crazy!
  6. I haven't even started my program yet and already get this. My boyfriend's mom tells people I am "in nursing" all the time so they are always asking me about meds and other health questions. I am always fast to say that I am not even in nursing school yet and besides my own common sense have no training. Go ask your doctor! It sounds like I will be dealing with this for a long, long time. Geez.
  7. Thanks for the info kmp5! Are they fairly stain resistant? I am such a mess sometimes, I know I will spill on myself all the time. I am hoping that I don't have to order new ones all the time because of stains. I finally started all of my immunization stuff today and how not fun was that! A word of advice - if you haven't gone in for them yet do it soon. Depending on what all you need it could take a few visits. I went ahead and got the flu vaccine, but I was told I would need another updated one this fall.
  8. The accepted students had to send in a confirmation in Feb. The next deadline for us is toward the end of April. I am guessing that those taken off the wait list will be getting something in May just going from our deadlines. Hope this helps! I know how bad it stinks to get waitlisted then sit and wonder. How did the meeting go?
  9. I would also like to try on the uniforms before I order them. They are so expensive, I really don't want to get the wrong size! Maybe the company has a good return policy? I will be at the info session on the 9th! Is anyone doing the "mentor" thing that was offered in the packets we got?
  10. My CPR class was offered for credit through GSC, so I used it to fill up my hours this semester. I have to be on top of things, if I don't do it now while I am thinking about it I WILL forget in a few weeks!
  11. I tried to reply to your PM but your box is full!
  12. Thanks for the tips! Looks like I need to get myself over to the health dept. pretty quickly unless I want them all at once.
  13. I am not a fan of them either. That is a really good idea, I wish I had been doing that over the last few months. I feel like after I get all these shots I will also get deathly ill from them. I think nursing is the only reason I will let anyone shoot me up with vaccinations, ever!
  14. I will probably just get all my shots out of the way now, including flu. I don't usually get one, and I am not excited about it! But I would rather just know that it is done and over with than have to go back later.
  15. I got my CPR certification at Gainesville College. I think Lanier Tech offers courses on a regular basis and my instructor was from there.
