  1. I am taking the same classes, plus a Chem class I need. I'm hoping I can handle it all. I'm just finishing up my ASN program so hoping this is a bit easier. Glad to know there is someone else taking the same classes. Have you heard any feedback from current or past students? Thanks for your reply.
  2. Interested in hearing from any students past or present in the Columbus State University online RN-BSN program. I am planning on starting in June'14 and was curious how your experience is with the workload and class structure. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.o
  3. We are not able to see our tests or quizzes after they are graded at all....the grades are posted and you basically are left to accpet it. I have a couple of problems with this...1st - how do we learn from our mistakes, I don't like not knowing what I missed especially with all the studying time I put in. 2nd, since the test are grades by humans and computers, mistakes can be made, I like to have the checks and balances of looking at things with two sets of eyes. Anyway enough of my gripping, just wanted to know if this was common in nursing schools.
  4. I was wondering....wouldn't the Nusring department send some sort of email/letter telling us if there is a dress code requirement for orientation? How is everyone supposed to know what the deal is because I am sure a lot of first years are not on this board? I wonder if there is anthing else we are supposed to know? I did get some advice from a second yr student, she said someone in their class started a FB page for their class and student communicated with each other that way a lot, that sounds like a good idea.
  5. I bought the book bundle a few weeks ago and the two books not included in the bundle were the Nursing Care Plan book (which I bought used) and the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association, which is the APA writing style manual that we will use to write our papers. So it's not a Psyc book, but a writing style manual....maybe that clears up any confusion?
  6. Hi Tumbleweeds10 - Yes, I thought $300 an hour was CRAZY, too. I almost didn't do it, but I just want to get it over with.....I took some online classes and it seemed like there was more info about them, hopefully I'll figure it out :), I'm taking music appreciation UGH!!!!
  7. I wonder if we are going to hear anything before the 16th? Is anyone planning on attending the Open House at the Forsyth Campus this Thursday? Im planning on going if I can work it out. Also, has anyone taken an online class @ NGCSU before? I registered for one, but not sure how to access it once classes start. Thanks everyone....
  8. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you too Ashbrock - Hang in there!!
  9. Thanks, I will wait til July and check with the bookstore. I'm going to order uniforms soon to allow time for returns if needed. Thanks for all your advice, it is appreciated!
  10. Hi kmp5 - thanks for you good information about the books. Do you know when you knew which books (ISBNs-titles) you would need first semeser? I was hoping to get a head start but not sure where to access that information. I have heard form several nursing students that if you can get a head start reading, that is s good idea. Also would you say the clinical uniforms run true to size, especailly the zip front tops. Thanks so much for everyone's help and support.
  11. Congrats to you all!! I am going to be at the Forsyth Campus as well. I emailed and mailed my acceptance, just to be sure they got it, probably a little overkill..... I don't think I paid anything at that point, but I did have to pay the $200 confimation deposit for the college and once you get your check-off list (fun, fun) you will have to pay some out of pocket stuff, but nothing too bad. You'll have to do CPR (BLS) and your immunizations along with a few other items. Looking forward to meeting you all soon. I'm just wondering if we will hear anything more before orientation in August?
  12. For those that need CPR, I talked to Kelly W. the third name on the NGSCU CPR info sheet, she is a NG nursing grad, very helpful and flexible if you need to set something up, I recommend you call her. Thanks, sk8inghunny, I realized there are lots of different cpr classes, would hate to take the wrong one! :)
  13. Well, you gals are on top of things! I'm going to get started on the immunizations stuff and research the CPR, I did find one at Lanier Tech, I just need to make sure it is the right course, it's given from 9-3 in one day, does that sound right? I was CPR certified, but for teaching so I think that is a different class.
  14. I will be at the Forsyth campus....do you all have any suggestions about the CPR class? I haven't called any of the #'s yet to get the details, but I will......also do you think we need a flu shot now, before theApril deadline ? Seems like it makes more sense to get it before school starts for next year.
  15. I received mine too, looks like we have a lot to do in a short time. Seems a bit more real now!
