With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.
Congrats to all who got in! Just a few answers...
You will receive all of your ATI books at school during the first few weeks, along with your skills kit. Also, I don't know if you got your shoe questions answered, but I know that they require full white shoes. However, I do have friends that have shoes that have light grey/blue on some of the shoe & have gotten away with it. I got all white nursing shoes that I love. The prep class that starts next week is good. I really enjoyed the student speakers and it does give you a head start on the reading. I was also able to meet many people ahead of time which I thought was a real bonus, plus it is worth 2 credits for hardly any work. :) Good luck to all of you and let me know if you have any questions. By the way, the first few weeks are pretty crazy. Hang in there and just remind yourself that you are in a nursing program!! Whoo-hoo!
Hi Kristi, I thought we could meet at the Lawarence / DeRicco Student Services building. If you are entering the campus from pacific ave turn right when you enter the campus (you can only go left or right) and it will be the new looking large building on your left and c-1 is the parking lot in front. This is the same place we had to turn our apps in, and registration and counseling is located here too.
Ok, I know where that is. Can't wait to meet everyone, still can't believe this is really happening!!! I talked to a few nurses I know and my mom who's an RN and they all told me not to freak out about the reading because we will learn what to look for without having to read every single word of every chapter. I was freaking out a little, lol.
dreamsdocometrue- what did you mean by purchase the skyscape using the san joaquin delta college portal. i don't find anything at skyscape or delta's website that would give me a discount for the constellation program.
sbnrn2b don't worry about it. i will explain everything tomorrow when i come to your eng 33a class. i am going to be one of your guest speakers. i am extremely thrilled and look forward into meeting you all. congratulations again!! :lol2:i will do my very best to answer any questions you all might have about the program and share tips in how to go about surviving your first semester of nursing school. see you all tomorrow:nurse:
Hi There! I am new on this web page can anyone tell me do we get nursing books from bookstore coz I am messed up with my online order. i don't have any books now I am so nervous. Please please help me!!!!!!!!!!!
They do have the books available for purchase in the bookstore. Some of us, however bought ours online to save money. We still have another week before classes officially start (unless youre taking the study skill class), so as long as you get them by then, you should be fine. There is quite a bit of reading required for the first week though, so the sooner you get them, the better.
For those of you who started class today, how was it?
It was freezing!!! lol I think it will be good. We didn't learn too much today, lot's of assessments to do about learning styles etc... I am so nervous about all this reading. I am already scheduling my study time into my new planner, along with my work hours etc... Does anyone know if there is going to be any other time we have to be on campus besides what we are registered for??? I keep hearing about the skills lab, when will we do that after we start clinicals?? Right now I think that will be the 6:30-3 on T and W.
Hey Kristi I was nice to finally meet you face to face!!! I think we will get some better answers tomorrow on what our lives will be like. I'm wondering if skills lab will be on mondays since dreams do come true was saying that they're was a scheduling conflict with class on mondays and the sna. Since we didn't sign up for a skills class I'm thinking one of the classes we are already in is a skills class because the college will want money for a class, their not gonna wanna give us a skills lab class for free. My left thinking can't wait till we are in our routine, lol.

I haven't read anything about when to wear uniforms. Eeek! I'm already behind in reading. Do we wear are uniform to lecture too? I was thinking they would be for clinicals only.
