Anyone Applying to Delta College for Spring 2011

Published

With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.

Hi slrberry! I'm also applying to Delta for Spring! It's going to be one of my back up schools just in case I don't get in sac state's bsn program. I'm pretty nervous :/. Do you live near Delta?

I live in Stockton, so it is pretty close to me. My first coice is CSU Stanislaus, since I'd be going for my BSN, but they are still debating as to whether I can apply or not since Im a 2nd bachelor student. I was also interested in Sac State, but since Im not a current student, i've already had to cross them off my list.

ROXY, have you already taken your TEAS

Yeah, I already took my TEAS. I got an 82%. I wish I did better, but I'm going to try my best to apply with this score. I'm just hoping my GPA will help me out a lot. Do you have an idea of what your score will be based on that scoring sheet for Delta?

I have not taken the TEAS yet, i registered to take it on both days that Delta is offering it next month, so that i can use the highest score now that they will except the best out of 3.

So far i will get 5 points for my BS, 5 pts for being an LVN-i just passed my exam 2 weeks ago, 2 pts for being certified as a CNA, 2.5 points for being 1st generation to go to college. As far as my grades I've gotten A's in all of the prereqs except for Micro i got a B. And im not sure about the TEAS yet, but as long as i dont bomb it, i think i have a good chance of getting in, because of all of the extra points i have, or at least that what the counselor said.

How about you? how many points do you have?

Wow, it looks like you really have a good chance of getting in! I'm sure you'll do fine on the TEAS. The math & reading part are really easy. The math was ok, basic stuff...i just ran out of time & had to bubble in what I can so I could finish in time. The hardest part for everyone is the Science portion, but just study hard & you'll do well. Good luck on the test!

For my score, I have 4.0 GPA on the prereqs, 82% on TEAS, received a pell grant & I speak a foreign language so that's 71 points. There was a thread for Fall 2010 applicants & most people got in with high 60's & low 70's so hopefully that's good enough. I'm going there to see a counselor so I can confirm that all my prereqs are correct because I took them at a different college.

The waiting process is gonna kill me haha! Hopefully we'll get in our first choice of school, but if not hopefully Delta will accept us :).

Wow! with your grades i think you have a really good chance of getting in. im going to make another appointment with a counselor to make sure i have everything in order, in case i get the invitation to submit my documentation. i was told by a counselor that the biggest mistake students make is not submitting everything, like course descriptions, so i dont want to fall in that category. its just really hard to get in to talk to one of the 2 counselors that know about the nursing program.

Do you know how long it usually takes to find out if you get it after the application deadline? i browsed the other thread, but noticed that it included both mjc and delta, so i didn't read all the way through it.

Good luck! Keep me posted on how your counseling appointment goes. I hope we get into our first choice schools as well!

Hi slrberry and Roxy! I'll be applying for Delta next month also. I'm scheduled to take the TEAS test on 9/3. I've been studying like crazy for it so I hope it pays off! I'm trying to get an appt with the counselor but it's difficult. I'm curious how far points wise on the list they got and how many alternates they took. I heard they took 65 people.

I went to see a counselor this morning & it went well. I asked him what the cut off score was for Fall, but he didn't know it. I'm guessing you have a good chance of getting if your score is around high 60's & above. There were people in the MJC/Delta thread that got in with 68points. Do you guys know if there's a big difference on the distribution of points between Fall10 & Spring11 (other than teas can be taken 3 times)? Slrberry- I think it takes about two months to find out if we're officially in. The MJC/Delta thread had app deadline around April & they didn't get notified til June.

RNBound83- Good luck on your TEAS! I'm hoping they accept 80 students for Spring.

RNbound it is very difficult to get in to see 1 of the 2 counselors that are familiar with the nursing program. I was very lucky this morning, and I went online at 6am and was able to get an apt in 2 weeks to see the main nursing counselor. When you go into the counseling center they usually tell you to go online after midnight but before 8am to get an apt. RNbound, how are you with your points so far, I know you haven't taken the TEAS yet, neither have I. I began studying, but just found out today that I bought the wrong version of the study guide, so I need to get the right one. I just hope they are not that much different.

Roxy I dont think there is a big difference between fall 2010 and spring 2011 except for the TEAS. It also looks like they've lightened up on the math requirement, so that it doesn't go into effect right away. I know that had a lot of people worried.

Slrberry, thanks for the info about making counseling appts. Wow, didn't realize it was so difficult! Who are the two nursing counselors?

Roxy, I'm worried since I have 41 pts (before taking TEAS) so not sure if that'll be enough, but figured I'd try. I didn't get many of the extra points :( I'll also be applying at Sac City, ARC, and Sutter extended campus (hopefully).

Did you guys submit official transcripts to admissions after you applied for the college? Just wondering because I've never taken any courses at Delta.
