With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.
Hi Everyone - This is my first time applying to Delta, I am an MJC student and I didn't get in so I decided Delta isn't that far of a drive from Modesto so I applied. I think I am coming in with 69.5 points. I don't have medical experience, but I am currently taking my EMT so hopefully when we all get into the program I won't be totally clueless! I submitted my application on Friday about 10:45am and it said I was number 48 but a word of warning; my application glitched into someone elses application so if you know of someone that had a glitch tell them to contact the tech support email.
I am so nervous that I am going to screw up this opportunity. Some of you mentioned course descriptions... does anyone know how to get one from 20 years ago? I took my English class that long ago. I have requested that my transcript be evaluated, if it gets evaluated before the deadline will I need the course descriptions?
Good luck to all and look forward to meeting each of you.
@Kristi80 - Thanks for the link to the utube video, its making me even more excited!

I know that most colleges have a catalog of course descriptions in their libraries. You may have to call you former college to find out how you can get a copy of it.
Also, you may have saved some time by having your transcript evaluated now, and that will help you know what you need to do to meet the degree requirements for deltas ADN program, but when you are selected to submit documents to the nursing department, you will still need to submit all course descriptions for prereqs that were not taken at delta. Unfortunately the 2 departments do not pass along this information to one another.
Good luck. Your overall score is good, and you definately have a good chance of getting accepted.
So does the course description have to be from the year you took it. For example I took english in 1999. Do I need a 1999 catalog?
Yes the course description has to be from the year the class was taken.
My former college has an online database where I can go to get old course descriptions, but some colleges that dont have their old course descriptions online, have hard copies of old catalogs in the library. It's probably best to call, because they may be able to mail you a copy.

Also, I just want to add that you will have to submit your transcripts, as well as course descriptions again, to the nursing department when/if asked to submit documents (even if you already submitted them for evaluation). They do not require you to have transcripts evaluated to apply for the program. Its only necessary to have them evaluated when you get into the program, because it shows that you may have already taken courses for their degree requirements.
Slrberry-thanks for the info!Does anyone know what else they will ask us to submit besides course descriptions and transcripts?
I think it is going to depend on where your points are coming from. For example, if you have a degree, then you'll need to submit your transcript that has your degree posted. Also, if you have healthcare licenses and certifications, then they'll want a copy of those. If you have volunteer or working hours then you'll need proof of those. I was told that when asked to submit documents, the list is individualized based on what each student submited in their application, so the list will tell you exactly what they want each student to submit.
Hope that helps.
Slrberry your very helpful! Thanks for the heads up! I'm thinking positive so I want to get as much of the documentation ready as possible. In the least it will be good practice, lol.
No problem! I have done the same thing! I have all of my paperwork ready, so I wont have to scramble at the last minute to get documents together.

Kristi80 - I had 82.5 points. I already have a BS, have gotten all A's in my prerequisites, and got a 91 on the TEAS. But, I have no medical experience like you!
I think you have a chance of getting in. And, don't forget, 10% of those admitted are random selection, so if your points don't get you in, you may be randomly selected.
