Anyone notified yet? Sac State CCE ASBSN program 2011
I did my appeal a few weeks ago, along with the SAP form. Be patient - it takes them awhile to review your appeal. And, just because our appeals were approved doesn't mean we will get any financing. It depends on your EFC. I will most likely not qualify for federal aid, and will have to get a private loan, but I wanted to try for a federal loan first.

I also just had my financial aid appeal approved. I submitted my appeal, and really didn't have any documentation to back it up, so I didn't submit anything other than the appeal. And yes, I think this is the only way to get a federal loan. It is such a process!

Anyone notified yet? Sac State CCE ASBSN program 2011
Maia99 - Yes, I have applied to several programs, and actually gotten in to them, but once I got accepted I never felt it was the right time to quit my job and go to nursing school. This time, however, I feel like it is the right program at the right time for me! I'm actually going to be able to keep my job until the end of the year, because I have some vacation time I can take while we are in class for the 1st 3 weeks. I was really happy that they sent us the tentative schedule - we will have long days, but not very many days per week, which will allow me to keep working. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the orientation! :)

Hi - I thought I would break in to the conversation to say that I have also been accepted! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! I live in Rancho Cordova, which is only about 15 minutes from Sac State. I agree that the format of the program - 10 week semesters - will work out great, especially with the breaks in between each semester. Congratulations to all who have been accepted!!

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
Oaktown2 - Congrats on being accepted to Samuel Merritt! Now you have a big decision to make, which isn't easy. Your point about 2 years giving the economy more time to improve is a good one. If you did do the Samuel Merritt program, and IF you got a job right away after completing it, you would be way ahead of the rest of us! It is the "IF" that is the hard part - no one knows when this economy will improve, or when there will be more nursing jobs in California. I have decided not to do the Sac State program this fall, and to continue working full time. I plan to apply again to CSUS for the spring, and also apply to Samuel Merritt's Sacramento ABSN program. Good luck with your decision! :)

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
Davismom - I'm considering applying to Sac State for the spring, to give myself time to put more $$$ in savings. I also have looked at Samuel Merritt - and with their program being only 12 months, if you run the numbers, even with their high tuition, it ends up costing less than Sac State if you get a job right away (and that is a BIG if!). But, for me, I think the Sac State program is a better fit. The breaks between semesters will give my mind a chance to digest all that I will be learning. I hope to make up my mind this week. I don't want to tie up a spot in the program that could go to someone else.

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
I am married and I have 4 kids - 3 of whom are in their 20's and out of the house (and 2 are working as nurses!), while our youngest is age 13. I am probably the oldest student in the class. I am still wavering on whether or not I should go forward with the program. I work full-time in a different profession and will have to quit, which is a major decision. I am surprised at the low number of 2nd bachelor students, although I think many people probably didn't know they could apply. Many had probably given up on Sac State, since we weren't allowed to apply for several semesters.

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
Oaktown2 - I emailed the nursing program, and they told me that the University deadlines do not apply to 2nd bachelor students, and they will provide us with detailed instructions on how to apply to the University in the upcoming weeks. So - we just wait for an email!

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
All - I went to a Pre-Nursing advising session at Sac State today. We were told that there are 333 applicants for Fall 2011. It is a strong applicant pool because 2nd bachelor students were allowed to apply (after 3 semesters of not being able to). They think the point cut-off will be higher than Fall 2010, which was 56 points. She said that they hope to have admission decisions made by April 29, but that may not happen. Apparently, they lost administrative staff, and were not able to replace those people due to budget cuts, so it is taking longer to go through the applications. They used to have 8 people to do this, now they only have 3. They will admit 80 students. That's all I know! April 29 isn't that far off - hopefully they will be able to make the decision close to then!! Good luck everyone!!!

CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??
I haven't heard anything. The waiting is so hard!! I think it will be harder to get in this year compared to last year, since they are letting 2nd Bachelor students in this time. (like me :))
