Anyone Applying to Delta College for Spring 2011

Published

With only 4 weeks until we can start applying, I thought that it would be nice to start a new thread so that we can all keep in touch, pass along information, and post our stats.

Thanks Roxy922 I didn't even think about that. I'll check their hours. That would be great if the app #'s are including all programs, makes our chances better!

Kwade84 I am also curious too as to how many people got asked to submit docs. Everyone I've talked to has gotten the same email. I have yet to talk to someone who got a straight denial. I know last year a friend of mine didn't get ask to submit docs but got a denial email instead. I also talked to a friend today who says his roomate got ask to submit docs and her score was 58. I am starting to think that everyone got ask to submit docs; hopefully I am wrong.

I hope everyone didn't get asked to submit docs. Last semester I remember reading the thread and one person said she didn't get the e-mail and another person also said a friend of hers didn't get it. I am not getting too excited until December 3rd so I am not too dissapointed.

Since there is a 10% lottery available, I would think that as long as you had all the prerequisites completed and have a teas test taken in time they would have to ask for everyones documents. This is my first time applying to delta so I don't really know the conditions of the lottery. Anyone have experience with this?

I was thinking maybe they already did the points ranking and lottery and just want proof now. Otherwise I don't why they would have us submit anything online then to have to go through everyone's paperwork anyway. Wishful thinking maybe.:)

I agree with you. I think that they probably already ranked everyone, but the list will shorten as students don't submit all the proper documents or entered incorrect information on the application.

That's what I'm thinking (and hoping) too!!! I don't think they would want to have to go through more paperwork than necessary. I'm sure it's obviously a larger number than accepted to the class (alternates, etc.) but I'm really hoping it's a shortened list. I know that all of us on here got the email but that's maybe 10-15 out of several hundred, right? I'm really, really hoping it's right :-)

thanks slrberry...after we've all made it to this point it's scary to think that one little screw up will disqualify us..so i wanted to make sure

So I was thinking about it last night after I posted how I hoped that they had already ranked and done the lottery and so on and I got to thinking about the wording of the emails. I know on the lvn one they said I had been "randomly selected by the drawing" to submit docs which I think mean either on the list or alternate and I was curious about the wording in the adn one as well. I went to the email this morning and saw that it did say that "a final ranking" would be done once all docs submitted. I may be reading WAYYYY to much into it but it kinda sounds like the first ranking/drawing was already done.

Ok sooo I work at 5am and it's super slow and I have nothing to do but sit and wonder about my nursing application lol. I was going through the FAQ on the nursing website and this was one of the quesions.....

Q. What happens after I submit my online application? San Joaquin Delta College ADN Program - Frequently Asked Questions ADN Frequently Asked Questions, June 2010 Page 4

A. After the closing date, all information reported in the online applications will be reviewed and points awarded according to the ADN Admission Criteria. 90% of the spaces will be filled by rank order (highest points); the remaining 10% will be selected by computerized random selection of qualified applicants. Applicants will be invited to submit required documentation in support of the information provided in the online application. All correspondence regarding the status of applications to the program will be sent to the applicant’s Delta College student email address.

Thanks, kwade, for all the information! To me it makes sense that they've already done the drawing for the ADN program, and I hope that's the case. I know they did for the LVN program, since my friend got the email saying she wasn't randomly selected.

The lvn part is what starting getting me curious because they said they had drawn. It doesn't make sense to do one that way and not the other especially if they have soooo much more to go through for the adn documents. I don't want to get too excited but this is much better than it first seemed. I hope we all get in!!!
