anyone applying to CU for 2010?

Published

Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.

I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.

BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.

Interesting, ada324! I wonder why not CU, either. Oh well!

Hello All,

I received an email back from the college already! I was surprised at the speediness of it. The admission specialist confirmed that everything was in check with my application file, and that it is ready for committee review. Late March...hurry up and get here! Best wishes to everyone who is waiting to get in.

Fantastic ada324!! They must have been referring to the email saying they got everything to review. I was expecting a different one, like a first cut - I was expecting a "sorry you didn't meet cum GPA requirements", that sort of thing. If so, then we were worried for nothing! Now, like you said, the last wait is on. I wish I had something to calm my nerves!

I decided to put a countdown timer on my google homepage. Only 45 days until March 22nd (half way between the 15 & 31) Now I can see it but I don't have to focus on it!

ada324--that's good news, glad they were prompt in responding.

sand dollar--great idea on the countdown timer!

Hi everyone, I also applied to CU for 2010! I received the email confirming that my application was complete, small relief that led to a lot of anxiety about my chances of being accepted which is how I found this thread :) CU is my first choice and I try to just keep telling myself that I have given it my best shot, if I don't get in this time, I will definitely re-apply. For now, come on March! Good Luck everyone!

Hi COJade80 - welcome to allnurses!!!

Good luck to you too - we have a great bunch of people here on AN and the CO board. We keep each other posted, so if you get in let us know!!

~SD :)

BTW - check out the student forum. There are some great, interesting threads. "How was your first day of Nursing school?" makes for a great read. You can read for days....ask me how I know. :lol2:

Thanks Sand Dollar, I'll let you all know when I do :-)

COJade80- Welcome! What other schools have you applied to?

This spring/summer I'll apply to the accelerated programs at Metro State and Regis; this semester I'm taking Nutrition, Human Growth and Development and Chemistry. Beyond that I would consider the University of Portland's Alternate Entry Master's Program, but hopefully I'll have at least one more opportunity to apply to CU before that.

The next application period for CU is this April 1 - June 15th. Spring semester will end and still give you time to apply. The next application period is for fall of next year. It will give you lots of sticks in the fire! :)

ada324- Please let us know what you find out.

EinGedi - I just want to find out if I made the first cut... it will give me an idea how to plan!

I just found out my hubby may be working in WA state for about 9 months out of the year...indefinitely. If I get into CU, I will stay here with the kids for the two years until I'm done, then move. But, if I don't get in, I will move to WA after I get my CNA and apply for ADN schools there (CNA is a pre-req in all the schools I found). I haven't decided which is better!! Welcome to my life... I have (mostly) learned to go with the flow, but it doesn't mean I always have to like it. :lol2:

what part of WA :) I am from WA originally and grew up there:)

Hey Coloradogrl!

My husband grew up in Brier, but we own property off HWY 12 near Mossyrock. Luckily the job is not far from the property, in Centralia. I already checked and there are 3 CC's within driving distance, so the dream stays alive (but has just added another detour)!
