Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.
I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.
BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.
Limeade, thanks for the info. I never can get through to them by calling. Did you contact them by phone or email?? I emailed them last night, so I'm hoping to hear back from them soon enough.
Sand_dollar, the wait is so horrible, especially since we have only applied to this school. I'm hoping that they are just running behind. I'm always checking my email too. I still have hope, and if either of us don't get in, there will be a greater opportunity waiting for us. If you stay determined, you'll get to where you want to be.
ada324, I called once and happened to get right through to my admissions advisor--I was surprised as I was expected to have to leave a message. I also e-mailed the admissions manager and received a prompt reply. I sent you her contact info in a private message just now. Hope you get things sorted out. You are talking about the e-mail saying your application is ready for review, correct? Not the one stating the review is complete? I don't think we are supposed to see those until the end of February or beginning of March.
ada324- Please let us know what you find out.
EinGedi - I just want to find out if I made the first cut... it will give me an idea how to plan!
I just found out my hubby may be working in WA state for about 9 months out of the year...indefinitely. If I get into CU, I will stay here with the kids for the two years until I'm done, then move. But, if I don't get in, I will move to WA after I get my CNA and apply for ADN schools there (CNA is a pre-req in all the schools I found). I haven't decided which is better!! Welcome to my life... I have (mostly) learned to go with the flow, but it doesn't mean I always have to like it.
Sand Dollar-
WOW. You have SO MUCH riding on a summer start vs. spring start. Those are some incredibly life-changing factors! Isn't it so crazy how a single letter can truly change your life's path?
It is definitely the "not knowing" that can be killer. Putting our lives on hold for 4 months between November and March will be trying, but I know it will be worth it. Once March comes rolling in, we all will be able to plot those points. We are so close! Either way it goes for you, going to nursing school in Washington or Colorado will be AMAZING! I'll be sending out the good vibes for you.
Are you finishing any prerequisites this spring semester, or are you completely finished? I am also wondering how many current students were still enrolled in their last semester during the spring while getting a summer start. Do you know of any? The only student I know of that applied last November and was accepted for the Jan '10 start still had prerequisites to complete in the spring semester. I am wondering if that is the usual case, or if it completely depends on the individual...or whatever the "secret formula" is!
Hi EinGedi,
I will be happy if I get EITHER spring or summer, but I did ask for summer. My only application was to CU, and if I don't get in at all...then onto plan C. (Plan B was UNC and ASN programs in CO....Plan C is now ADN in WA).
I am taking the last of my pre-reqs right now. Stats and 5 others gen eds, but only 5 in total go towards CU, the other was an AS requirement. I'm glad I'm taking the classes now because it gives me something to focus on instead of pacing the walls. I do wish they were a little more challenging though, I find them boring and I don't feel pushed at all (I miss my sciences!).
I don't know of anyone except those on this board who have applied to CU - I sure wish I did!

You're probably right about that. But it helps to get through all the waiting.
