Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.
I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.
BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.
SummitAP - I'm sorry to hear that, hang in there, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you receive your acceptance letter on Monday!
Sand_Dollar: Big white envelope There are some forms that came with the letter that they want sent back soon. Has your mail not come yet?
limeade: here are my stats (I am not sure if I have posted them somewhere earlier in this thread or not)
1. cum GPA: previous BA (not counting prerequisites): 3.89
2. pre-req GPA: 4.0
3. focus of your essay questions: uh, I answered the essay questions. I had no epic experience that made me want to go into healthcare, but I believe I have the character traits to be successful as a nurse.
4. volunteer experience: Just under a year in an ED in a level II hospital.
5. prior work experience--in healthcare or no healthcare experience: I am an EMT-B but at application deadline had just finished my license, so no work experience other than a handful of ED clinical shifts and ambulance rides.
Hope that helped!
thanks Sand_Dollar, I appreciate the encouragement (as I sit here crying!)
@ SummitAP, thanks for the call list info, and I live in Denver proper.
@ One1--congrats again, and thanks for sharing your stats. I'll post mine here too so others can compare. It sure is maddening to wonder what it was about your essay or whatever that caused them to give you the ax.
1. Cum GPA from previous degree 3.6 (I guess that didn't help)
2. Prereq GPA 4.0
3. Volunteer experience--1 year at University Hospital (don't they owe me something, lol?) with direct patient contact
4. Zero healthcare experience or education--I am trying to make a complete career change after 15 years in the finance industry
5. Essay questions--emphasis on working with diverse population within the hospital, emphasis on how my life experiences and personality make me well-suited to a career in nursing. I don't know what I could have added or changed.
Limeade and cdids: So sorry to hear, but I think you have a good chance for a callback! Did they say anything about what number you are on the call back list?
Congrats to all that got in! How exciting!!
I am still anxiously waiting for my mail...I will let you know the verdict as soon as I find out!

I was not accepted, but also got the call list option. Does anyone know if they give everyone the call list option? How do you know where you are ranked on that list?
For those that were accepted, particularly those with a previous degree, would you mind sharing a few things with the rest of us?
1. cum GPA
2. pre-req GPA
3. focus of your essay questions
4. volunteer experience
5. prior work experience--in healthcare or no healthcare experience
I am greatly disappointed--CU was the only school I applied to and I thought I had a good chance. I felt my essay was strong and I thought my hospital volunteer work would give me a big boost.
That said, congratulations to all of you who were accepted, it must feel wonderful!
