Just looking for company ... Has anyone applied for ammerman's fall 2011 nursing program? What are your grades and does anyone know last years GPA cutoff? Also, do you know anyone who got in without four A's?
This is a new thread...others are from a few urs ago.
I am going crazy with you guys. I applied for SBU 2 year basic program and found out through Solar yesterday that I was not accepted. I found out 2 weeks ago that I was accepted to Farmingdale though and still waiting on Suffolk!!! Admissions told me late April, early May. This is SOO frustrating because while I am waiting for Suffolk, Farmingdale already has requested my deposit and orientation fee. Orientation is April 28th! I was hoping to hear from Suffolk before having to dish out $175 to Farmingdale (100 deposit & 75 orientation). I can't take this torture! lol
Buckeroo,I know a person with a 4.0 that was wait-listed as well, but eventually called into the program. I guess nothing is a guarantee here, so I hear ya on this. Are chances better for the day program?
Fingers crossed...:)
I'm pretty sure there are more spots for day, if I am remembering correctly.
I just spoke to "someone" (can't post names on here) at Ammerman that only deals with nursing admissions and is only available 2 days a week. She said that they sent out rejection letters for people that did not have all the pre-reqs and who's grades are not competitive. when I said I tried to confirm that there has been an initial cut based on GPA she kind of reworded what she said that if applicant's prerequisites didn't meet the requirments for the program, they were denied. She didn't know grade cut-off since they are not doing this until end of April and decisions going out early May. I know and she confirmed Ammerman day has 120 seats and eve has 60 seats. This is so stressful. So now have to pay Farmingdale $175, attend orientation there, register, and going to have mindset for Farmingdale. This stinks because would rather go to Suffolk because it is much closer for me and less expensive (which will help with daycare I will need for my kids) but have to wait to find out until after already all set-up at Farmingdale. I almost want them to reject me now so I don't have to wait to know what I am doing lol. Those waiting on SBU, keep checking Solar because they are making decisions daily (got mine few days ago).

At the nursing info session, they said that no one with a 4.0 has ever been turned down. Are you positive they really had a 4.0?? I'm not trying to accuse anyone of lying.. but sometimes people exaggerate. I know people in the program now who had like 3.4 and 3.5.

I was wondering the same thing because when I attended the info session they said the same thing. He also said that last year the gpa cut off was 3.6 (not sure if he meant everyone with a 3.6 got in, or just some), and maybe even lower than that got accepted off the wait list. I'm not very worried about getting in, but since being rejected from SBU with a 4.0 (in all classes), I'm starting to get anxious about it. I still don't understand why suffolk takes so long to decide, it's not like it's such a hard decision since it's only based off of grades in 4 classes.
I'm talking strictly for the Ammerman campus, I never went to an info session at Grant. I put first choice Ammerman day and second choice Grant day.
FYI, guys, I was waitlisted for Spring 2011 with a 4.0, and accepted for Fall 2011. I can't speak to people lying about their GPA, but I think there is more to their decision making than just grades. Don't forget that a certain number of seats are set aside for people who work in facilities already.
