Published

Just looking for company ... Has anyone applied for ammerman's fall 2011 nursing program? What are your grades and does anyone know last years GPA cutoff? Also, do you know anyone who got in without four A's?

This is a new thread...others are from a few urs ago.

Does SB have a Two year program nights? I had thought theirs was just the excellerated program... If I don't get into Suffolk I will have to apply to SB as well next semester....

Stony Brook does not have an exclusively evening program. Clinicals can go into night hours, but you definitely have classes during the day. Their program only starts in the fall too

Has anyone heard from Suffolk about the nursing program? I'm getting anxious about it.

From what I understand, we still have 2 to 3 weeks to wait...

OK so just spoke to admissions at Ammerman again because I actually wanted to change my 2nd choice. They said at this point you cannot change your campus/program choices. I am hoping this is because they have started to sort all the applicants out to make decisions. Kind of upset because the woman I spoke with said that I did not put down a 2nd choice! I can't see myself not entering anything, but than again I applied so long ago, who knows what I was thinking! This stress is killing me lol. I really am hoping that they just tell students that they sort your GPA for the 4 classes and make a cut... Would be nice if they took other things in consideration like the classes you have already completed, if you are a current SCCC student, etc. I have these grades:

B in English

B+ in Intro to Psych

A in API

B+ APII

3.5 GPA and applied to Ammerman Day which has the most seats.

So nervous.

Admissions just told me that we probably won't get decision letters until the end of May. What is taking so long?!? I Have such anxiety over this. Another month and a half to wait :(

Which admissions office did you talk to? Don't think can say names on here but if you call 451-4577 on Mondays or Fridays, the person who answers is in charge of strictly nursing applications and works out of Ammerman. I am pretty sure she said beginning of May the letters go out.

Also, does anyone know if SCCC waitlists you, if they tell you what number you are one the waitlist?

When I went to Ammerman admissions I was told end of may-beg of June, which I can't imagine being correct. I needed to straighten something else out and when I received a call from the nursing app person, as well, she said end of April- beg of may. That makes more sense and she was the one that was more knowledgable on nursing apps anyway. So I'm sticking with that in my head, hopefully it's accurate and in a few weeks we find out. Crossing my fingers

your grades are good you will get in

I spoke with someone from admissions. Not the nursing dept. I'm hoping end if May was wrong and we will hear around the end of April. And from what I hear sccc does waitlist but I don't know if they give you a number.

Hey- just wanted to jump in and say that I was going through this stressful wait last year. I watched lots of people start to get their letters while waiting for mine... Especially about this time of year it was the topic of conversation in every micro class. First of all, it seemed as though the longer you waited, the better the news. Rejection letters go out first, wait list and acceptance go out next. Thick envelope = good news. Second, if you get on wait list you still have a good chance of getting in... The people I knew who got that got in. Last, if your on the wait list, keep calling! They will call the people on the list, but one girl who was wait-listed called 2 weeks before classes started... And they let her in. They said that it was so close to the beginning of the semester that they didn't think anyone would want the spot. I found out I got in last may, right before finals. Good luck!
