Anybody NOT accepted to NAU/ASU/CEP through MCCD?

Published

Does anyone know of any applicants that were turned down for the CEP program through Maricopa? Everyone I know who has applied had gotten in with GPA's from 3.0-3.8. My GPA is a little behind a 3.5 and I am worried that competition is getting heavier, I see all these posts about 4.0's and 3.9's!. I have yet to hear of anyone rejected though. Just wondering if anyone has heard of any rejections or if the program is still too new...

Hi!

I am applying on May 28th with a GPA of 3.81. I haven't heard of anyone getting turned away, but I believe the program might be too new. I believe it is only in it's 2nd year. When are you applying?

I think the minimum GPA to apply is 3.25 for ASU. I think because that program is so new and the most expensive, anyone who meets the qualifications gets in. My cohort is less than 20 students.

The NAU program seems to be more popular and it has been around longer. I'm not sure if anyone has been turned away though. Good luck!!

Hi! I am applying May 28th as well! My Gpa is a 3.47 so I am little worried hoping to go into NAU. One of my friends had a 3.1 with a 90% hesi and got in last round. So, I am hoping I can slip in this round! Your GPA is awesome! What program/school are you going for?

Hey KendallAZ!

I am applying at SCC, for MCC/NAU as my 1st choice. I live in Chandler so it is closest to me. My HESI is 92% in math and 80% in reading. I had emailed the advisor at MCC because I was worried about my HESI and she told me that it's all based on a point system. So you get so many points for your GPA then so many for your math and then for your reading score. As far as I am told it REALLY all depends on the people who are applying. SO if there are people with a lower GPA you are good. Just look at it this way you are in the middle! So you totally have a great chance of getting in, especially if your HESI is good. =)

Depending on what school you apply to can affect the the outcomes too. There are so many factors to look at. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I mean you can't exactly change the outcome, just know that you gave yourself the best shot you could!

I'm sure you have it in the bag tho! Good Luck on the 28th!

Thank you for your reply! Does your cumulative have to be a 3.25 and higher or each course needs a 3.25 that has a * by it? My chemistry grade was right at an 80 so does that mean I couldn't apply even if my cumulative would be higher than a 3.25?

I didn't apply to ASU and I know this reply wasn't for me but I am pretty sure for all the schools the GPA is all classes with an * are combined for the total GPA, not each course. Good luck!

As long as your combined GPA for all of the * classes is 3.25 you'll be fine.

Also, they will only take 1st attempt grades. I was a little worried because I took BIO201 & 202 online and got a C, but then retook them in person and got an A. But, I had an A in all of the other * classes so my GPA was a 3.5. I still kick myself for those Cs lol

Did you print our your CEP application already? The maricopa.edu/nursing website has been down for the past week and I need to print out the applications for the session. DO you know if we can go pick up a copy from the college or anything?

I was having the same problem. I called the hotline this morning and was given a link to get to the app. Here you go!
