She is every thing I am not. She is tall, super intelligent, witty. She can wrap every doctor around her little finger. She talks doctors into giving orders that she feels are more appropriate then what is currently ordered. And she is always right on target in her suggestions. She is also very helpful, nice, and so organized that she has free time to glance thru a magazine or sit down during her shift. She also commands respect and does not take any dirt from anybody. I am watching and hoping some of it will rub off on me.lol :chuckle
Anybody else work with one of these immortals?
God blessed me along the time to work with couple of really super nurses and they know that! Is a pleasure to be around them, perfect nurses, mothers or husbands, perfect friends, perfect soules. I also asked them how they can manage all roles....and they sayed me "everything just come" and anyone didn't recognized that is perfect ...Zuzi still need 48 hours daily to manage all ......loooooooool, but tries and tries again.
two kinds -one who has photographic memory and is cocky right out of nsg school and the experienced wise nurse who works like a machine. The cocky one will jump into conversations when she wasn't asked to answer a question you asked someone else, she is always out on time and 'reminds' you to do things you already know to do (been a nurse longer than her for heavens sake!) or suggests things that are obvious. UH I worked with brain injuries longer than you and yes I did try giving him his medication with a snack but no he still will not take it, what does she think? That it is my first day?
Oh but the machine nurse, calm, never assumes, has intuition, respect, knowledge-I just love her! She too is always out on time but I feel honestly that the aides and are intimidated by her and that they hesitqate to ask for her assistance like they do other nurses if we are all sitting charting-thus she gets her charting done sooner. Just my opinion. Both contribute but ...well we all learn from each other dont' we? -what to do and not to do?
Not that I am anywhere close to being a supernurse, but I have noticed
common traits the ones I have seen seem to share
1. Easy going personality- you never see them sweat, while we are running around complaining how overworked we are, they just do the job and get it over with.
2. Smart- they know their stuff!
3. Organized- this seems to be the biggest component. This one nurse I used to work with would always work the most hectic shifts, have the most difficult patients, and still leave a beautiful report with everything done. She had all her materials organized, made lists, did her charting while she worked, she was like a machine!
Remember folks "all that glitters is not always gold" I've worked with people that I thought were insanely witty, smart, organized, you name it. But who knows what these people went through to get where they are, or what their life is like outside of work? Just focus on being the best YOU can be. :D:D:D
