Anybody else work with a "super nurse?"

Published

She is every thing I am not. She is tall, super intelligent, witty. She can wrap every doctor around her little finger. She talks doctors into giving orders that she feels are more appropriate then what is currently ordered. And she is always right on target in her suggestions. She is also very helpful, nice, and so organized that she has free time to glance thru a magazine or sit down during her shift. She also commands respect and does not take any dirt from anybody. I am watching and hoping some of it will rub off on me.lol :chuckle

Anybody else work with one of these immortals?

no.. but I'd like to be one! That's for sure!

MY RESPONSE TO SUPER NURSE IS A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD.

ON ONE SIDE YOU HAVE THE NURSE WHO TRULY LOVES THEIR PROFESSION

THESE ARE THE ONE WHO DO FINE WORK LOOKING FOR NO ACOLADES,THIS

IS CERTAINLY WHAT A SUPER NURSE IS TO ME,GOD BLESS THEM EVEN MORE. :uhoh21: :uhoh21:

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SWORD IS THE ONE WHO IS SO INEPT THAT

THEY MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK BUSSY AND WHEN THE CHIPS ARE DOWN THEY

CRUMBLE AND PANIC IN FEAR,MAKING EVERYONE ELSE NERVOUS, ESPECIALLY IF IN FACT YOU LOOK UPON HER/HIM AS BETTER THAN YOURSELF.

THESE ISIDEOUS BEINGS ARE THERE FOR THE STATUS AND MONEY--NRSDUG

I have come across the occasional "super nurse" but I have come across more that just have the idea that they are "super nurse". :clown:

not to that extent BUT i did work with a very dedicated nurse in an LTC. she does eve shift (2-1030) but is at work by 1pm and does NOT leave until about 4am (although she clocks out at 11pm)

I would not call working for free dedicated, I would call it foolish. If you are a volunteer, that's one thing, but if you are an employee, you should never work for free.

it took a few years, but recently it just dawned on me that here on the bb, you can meet many super nurses. and it has nothing to do with the number of posts that the writer has, as we all know that one can quantify w/o quality of content. but now i carefully read all posts that interest me, and am also more conscientous about what i write. this board indeed, has many super nurses, and i continue to learn and appreciate every day.

I agree, Leslie.

I have a girlfriend who is a super woman. Works 40+ hours a week, perfect children (in public at least), house is always clean, even sqeezes in sex w/hubby once a week. I asked her how she does it. Her reply: "I don't know. Things just need to get done and I do them." I am definately, not that. If the dishes are in the dishwasher before I go to bed, I feel I've done my part, ha,ha.

Gee, there are weeks where my husband only gets sex once, but I don't think he considers that "super"!! (I'd insert a smilie here, but I can't seem to get that function to work)

I used to know a "super nurse." She was eventually fired because she was a drug addict. Always had that blank look :stone and could work rings around anyone.

I've known one, she was cute, always energetic, intelligent, nice, on top of things- she always knew what was going on w/the unit, and was the "go to" person. She was also physically fit & kind to everyone. Then after yrs of being in charge on her unit, she was found to be diverting drugs. Moral of the story, you never know what's really going on in someone's head, or what their life is REALLY like outside of work; so be who YOU are & the best you can be-- who wants to be a clone?? Life would be boring to be a Stepford Nurse!!

For some reason, several of my aunts are RN's and they are all the "super nurses" at work and of course their homes are perfect. Anyway, my father brings his sister who is one of the supernurses over to my messy house without telling me. I could have just crawled under a rock.

[MOUSE]Yes; but, I found she is powerless when she wipes the brown off her nose.[/MOUSE]

You must realize that it is a facade and something is sacrificed somewhere. With our 'supernurse' it comes in the form of poor charting, meds and drips signed for and not given, and sending admitted patients to the floor without a thing done for them (based on the admission orders). Face it, many of them use an old propaganda trick to get by: Say something enough times and it eventually becomes fact/believed. If you sit back at a distance and do not get involved with his/her talk, you may see this super hero's weaknesses yourself. It would be no use in trying to do anything with your observations, except to realize that nobody is perfect and striving for perfection is an excercise in futility.

Not to be overtly cynical, but some days I feel like anyone who shows up for work is a super nurse.

I have also had some wonderful mentors. They are the nurses who recognize you need help, and will come to help without being asked.

I work with a super nurse ... she is extremely intelligent, very skillful, a great leader, patient, always takes the time to teach and mentor other nurses, and inspires others to work hard and do their best. And, she is a genuine person who is sincerely nice and respectful to everyone.

Honestly, she is my role model.
