Any starting in Fall 2008

Published

Is there anyone starting NS in the Fall of 2008 with me?

Specializes in Emergency/Trauma/Charge Nurse.

Wow, I can't believe that I totally missed this post for this long...lol!

I too am starting NS this Fall and am so glad to see so many folks starting this Fall too.

:nurse:

I am an "oldie" too, starting this journey late in life. I am the poster child for all those students that think they can wait to go to college.

:yeah:

I tell my daughter all time that I don't want her to end up like me changing careers midlife. My excuse at the time was I didn't have the funds, when I was in high school no one talked to me about college or encouraged me to go or ever told me anything about grants/scholarships. I Didn't have the funds because there were just all of those other things I wanted to spend my money on instead of education.

:rckn:

Now I am a single mom returning to school, I know it would have been so much easier when I was young, but I don't think that I would have had the drive to succeed like I do now. (that hindsight 20/20 thing! :D)

:banghead:

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with everyone throughtout this wonderful journey and good luck to all!

Congratulations to you!!! Isn't it exciting?? I am older too, 37 and I wish I had gone to college right out of high school also but then I would not have wanted it this bad! My parents did not push me to go and I am going to be different with my daughter. I tell her all the time that she needs to get school and her educuation done when she is young so she does not miss out on family time when she gets older. That is one thing I feel bad about, missing time with her and my husband. But it will be worth it in the end and from what I am reading on this website, a lot of nurses and recent graduates say they would do it all over again. It is good to hear.

Check out an earlier post by KobiezMa...her husband has set up a webpage just for future nurses. If you PM her, she will give you the website. It is awesome just like this one but just for those of us getting in in Aug 08.

Best of luck to you and hopefully we can all keep in touch!:yeah:

I start in Sept. I am not sure when my orientation will be, but I have a list of busy work (paperwork, physical, background, drug screen, etc) to keep me occupied. I am the mom to five though only two are home full time and my older boy is home sort term as he recovers from a broken back.

I am looking forward to a family centered summer getting my ducks in a row at home. Lots of neglected closets and cupboards and dust bunnies that require my attention. It would be nice to have the house clean for just a little while!

Congrats to everyone. I look forward to sharing this with all of you.

well good for you! haha there is nothing wrong with being an "oldie"; heck, you are probably much better off than half the young ones with that drive to succeed and all. :D

i'm just curious, where are you going to school? your location says Spring, TX, and that's where my parents live, so I was curious as to which nursing school in the area you'll be attending.

Good luck to all of you starting this fall!!!!

I will be starting my clinicals in the Fall of 08. I'm very excited, while patiently waiting on my enrollment into clinicals, I completed all my classes for the nursing curriculum, as well as completed coursework to obtain an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology. I will be graduating June 20, with my degree in Psychology-then take a two month break before I begin my clinicals. Best of Luck to everyone as we all prepare for the exciting venture that awaits us, it will be a challenge but we must perservere through the pain because the mission is certainly worth it.

We must stay encouraged and uplift one another during times of struggle.

Likewise, I am 36 years old and a mother of two. Nursing has always been my passion, however I put it off for far too long. I try not to focus on my age but focus on spending my remaining working years doing something I truly enjoy.

Best of Luck,

My husband and I start this fall (Aug. 21st) as well..........for now we're getting a head start on the text. Good luck everyone!!!

I'll be starting in September (same program as hotflashn but probably different campuses). It's in the SF Bay Area.

I am so dying for some sort of orientation. I'm a complete and total "information gatherer" so I always need to have ALL of the information. I'm waiting patiently and in the meantime I've done my background check/drug screen and need to go in for my physical.

An old friend of mine from high school is a travel nurse. We reconnected recently and she was thrilled when she found out I was going to nursing school. She sent me some of her old review books. Right now I'm not even sure of what I have!

I will work until probably the beginning of August and then take some much needed time off to relax, tackle some home projects and generally get myself geared up for glorious nursing school! I've been working towards this for 3 years so I'm totally thrilled.

Glad to have a bunch of people to commiserate/celebrate with!
