  1. Wow! You just said that so wonderfully and put a totally new spin on the all-white uniform. We too, wear all white and although I would wear anything they told me to wear, am not fond of all white. I am not due to start clinicals for a few weeks but I look forward to seeing the reaction they get. I was thinking that it would only be a spotlight on the lack of knowledge I feel I will have when I start clinicals, but I do hope that it portrays how ready I am to learn all of the new wonderful things that will help me in my new career. Thank you for making me feel so much better about wearing the all-white, bright uniform!
  2. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! I just started last week and am in the evening program. Right now, we go Mon 3-5p, Tues and Wed are clinicals from 3p-11p and Thurs is 3-6pm. At orientation, you will get a slip of paper to fill out and you will rank your choices, I believe there are 3 different evening choices/hospitals and more for the day. So if you want evening, rank the evening choices as your top three. If you choose evening, you will go through the summer so you will finish the program in a year and a half! The day program students get their summers off.
  3. When I took Statistics, we needed the TI83. It was around $90-100 unfortunately. Do you know anyone that has taken it in the past that you can borrow it from? My prof. was awesome, very understanding and told us at the first class that if we could absolutely not afford the calculator, to talk to her after class. I know that a few people did. You could always try to talk to your professor after class. You never know if they have an extra one they will let you borrow. Good luck!
  4. I have not even started NS yet, will start in Aug 08 and I am LMAO at this thread...I know I may not be laughing so hard once it starts but it is good to know that I will have somewhere to vent! I will be back on this thread in August! Thanks to everyone who posted.
  5. Wow, thank you so much for all of that information! That is great to know. I am not an alternate this time...though I have been the past two times. When I got my acceptance letter, I took my letter right in to the campus and turned it in and was told that I was near the top of the list so I would get to choose my program ( day or night) at the orientation. I think the reason for the delay on my orientation letter is because they changed the criteria for the selective admissions process. Now there are two pools of people they choose from. 70% of people are chosen first, based on GPA and classes done, then 30% of people are chosen. I did find out that the second group of people have not gotten their letters yet...I think they go out the beginning of June. Great to know that the night program is the 16 month program. I will definitely do that if I can. Thank you for the heads up on the tests...I had no idea. So you graduate in December?? That is awesome...
  6. Thanks for responding...I am so glad to hear from someone that is actually in SPC's program. I won't know until orientation if I am doing day or night... You started fall of 07, right? Are you in the RN program? I am a little confused about the RN program. The general program information I have is for a two year program: fall, spring, fall, spring. No summers. But then I heard that they have a 16 month program, is that what you are doing? I am interested in that to get it done faster. How many students are in your program? Thanks so much for any information! I cannot wait until orientation and feel like I could be getting stuff done.
  7. Hello to everyone! I can't believe I missed this post...I also start NS in Aug 08 with plans to graduate in 2010. Though I just heard that my school also does a 16 month program for RN. I have not had orientation yet but will be finding out about that. If I could do that, I would graduate Dec 09 and before I am 40 so that would be awesome! I don't have an orientation date yet, either the end of June ( I am hoping) or the end of July. That is when we receive all of our information, as far as our books to buy, immunizations, etc. I am going to get a head start on the CPR but other than that I will have to wait to get more information. Good luck to all of you!
  8. Same thing here Misserella...I was so anxious and excited that I drove to the school to deliver mine in person, wondered why there were no cars in the parking lot and then realized it was Good Friday! I laughed to myself the whole way home. Then on Monday, went back and handed it in to the actual coordinator of admissions....I was so nervous just doing that! I just kept thinking about the part of the letter that said "failure to turn in the letter of intent by the requested date will remove your name..." My school did two pools of applicants. I was in the first and they are finishing up the second pool now and will be done by the first week of June. So I have not received an orientation letter yet and of course am obessing about that! It never ends!
  9. I actually start this August, I cannot wait. I had put off Micro to the very end and because I did not take it last summer, I did not get in to January's class. So had to wait another 8 months but that is ok. Good things come to those who wait, right? When are you hoping to get in? I know they recently changed some of the criteria to get in.
  10. It would be daunting to take Micro in the summer because of the shortened session. Good idea taking the first quiz to see how you do. I took it during the fall session last year so I had more time. I had considered taking it the summer before and am still unsure about how I would have done, even with Citron. I will say that I was very scared in the first couple of weeks of Micro, both for lecture and lab but like every other online class, once you find your groove and set aside the days you are going to study, etc, it ends up being not as bad as you originally thought. Something to think about. I wish you luck either way!! When it is over, you will look back and say what was I worried about?
  11. I know you have already started, I am starting nursing school in August 08 at SPC...FINALLY got in. How was your first year?
  12. I had Citron for Micro lecture and lab and she was awesome! I would highly recommend her. Not to say that the class is easy but it is definitely something that is doable online. For the lab, you do experiments with ingredients from home. I think I had everything on hand except the yeast for one of the experiments. Citron allows open book quizzes and is great about answering emails. Micro is a difficult class and is not easy material to learn. Good luck to you!
