I was reading thru the forums on another (non nurse related) site and read a post which just kind of irritated me. Not sure why, I don't know the poster and I shouldn't even care. But here goes..... A poster is writing about his recent experience while in Cancun, Mexico. His wife apparently became quite ill, nausea, emesis, seizue activity and some numbness. This led to her being transported via ambulance to a Cancun hospital. After a day or so there, a decision was made to transport this woman via private air ambulance to a facility in Miami. Obviously, I wish the very best for these people. But what kind of annoyed me was the very sexist attitute of the poster and I'm not even sure that sexist is the correct word. Not a word was mentionioned about the level of professional care his wife received. No, he was most focused on the "sponge bath" given to his wife while in Mexico by a young "nurse". He went on in detail about how sultry and erotic he found this bath to be. How the young woman providing it was dressed in a provocative manner. Not a word about the many professional people who no doubt worded their butts off to provide good care to his wife both in Mexico and Miami. Just kind of annoyed me. What a steriotypical attitude. I felt like responding to his post, but decided that I wouldn't lower myself to his level. Some people, huh?? Yes, as a nurse all I do all day long is provide lengthy and fun bed baths ~ NOT!!!!!!

WOW. Sounds like he was trying to push some buttons, ehh?
IT WORKED.
I just stay away from sites that upset me, make me fret or that frequently make me wicked mad. It is that simple.
Sure, he's a slime - but the slime is not on me!
:)
Seriously, IF that is the worst objectification that I face - I'm having a great day/week/month/year/career!
Take it for what it is ... perverts are everywhere and on the web they can be anyone. Hmm...

I cannot believe that in this day and age people still believe that nurses are nothing more than massueses (sp) in mini skirts.

The message is never going to get across to some people. Several of us have always ordered odd and end stuff from a certain catalog that sells all sorts of merchandise. Kids toys, home decorating, you name it, well, the other day we got a new catalog, flipping through the pages and what do you think pops up!!!!
Fantasy Lingerie Sets, want to guess what they were depicting? One was a maid uniform real revealing and sexy, you guessed it, the other one was a nurses uniform mini mini with lace and low cut, spaghetti straps. That was just the top part, there isn't enough to the bottom to describe it, lol!!!!
A maid uniform and a nurses uniform, guess they have a lot in common!!!! No telling how many of those things they will sell.
There are some sick minds out there. Sooo, to answer your question, yes, I am annoyed by this garbage, but we've been fighting it for years, seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same.
I really feel sorry for this man's wife. She was ill, in a different county and apparently all he could do is have fantasies about her care giver. As bad as I thought my ex-husband was, even he wouldn't stoop to that level ~ LOL!!!!!!!:monkeydance:

I feel sorry for this creeps wife, and the nurses who had to take care of her. I don't know much about nursing in Mexico but I doubt this nurse was dressed in high heels and a short, tight white dress a la Media movies.
I'm an aide and I consider bathing a patient very private and cover up what I'm not washing. I also ask family members to step out - I wouldn't care if it was the president. Luckily, we do have a rule at our hospital that if a staff member asks you to step out you must step out. I wouldn't want an audience as a patient as I'm being bathed even if it was my husband.
This guy is very creepy.

I think you have done the right thing in this case - there will always be a small percentage of creeps and slime balls in this world, and you have just encountered one - as you have seen by others posts, he was easily spotted for what he was. I wouldn't give him another thought. Life is too short to be dragged down by the likes of him - FLPDLPN, just go out and show the world that we're not all like him...
