Hi all! I love it here, just to let you know :redpinkhe. I am (hopefully) going to be starting LVN program in January (6 months YIPPEE!!) After a year of really hard work on prereqs and everything that goes along with applying! I have two school choices: Tyler County Hospital, Woodville Texas and Angelina College, Lufkin Texas. I would love to meet new friends that will be attending the same timeframe and program as me! I am sure most of us are nearing the "waiting" period for finding out if we made it in or not! Lets go through this stress together! My name is Beth by the way, four children, two boys, two girls, and one husband:yeah:all of which are happy that I am going to school. My husband just started his prereqs this summer to start LVN in January 2011! He wants to go for surgical nursing, I want to be right up in L&D since I kinda know a little about birthing babies:uhoh3:! Hope to meet some new friends!

Hi all! I got my acceptance letter a few months ago for Spring 2010 for RN! It's starting to get really close! We had our first orientation November 6th. There they gave us tons of papers to sign and an outlook of what the next 2 years will look like for us (i'm doing ADN) they also went over uniforms, we registered for classes, gave us a list of our books, making a portfolio starting now keeping all of our paperwork in it, and talked a lot about different things. We have our 2nd orientation December 18. At that orientation we have to turn in our background checks, physical forms, proof of , and proof of CPR. I have everything done except CPR, taking it next weekend. I have already been certified through Red Cross, but that isn't acceptable, it has to be through American Heart Association. We have to turn in these things on December 18, if not were automatically kicked out. (Yikes, luckily the only thing I have left is CPR.) Anyways, aside from all that we have some classes to attend before school starts. December 17 we attend Discover Nursing at the local hospital. They take us all around the hospital to show behind the scenes of what it is like to be a nurse. They said we will specifically visit the ED and L&D. The next class is January 5,6,7. These are all day classes called success course. They said basically this will introduce us to nursing and what it is all about and different rules and a orientation to our first class. Then January 8 is hospital orientation. This is just to show us around the hospital, go over some basic hospital rules and such. The hospital is huge and said many times it can overwhelm students just going there, so they do it before to make our first day of clinicals a little easier. Anyways, that's all for now, goodluck to all the nurses starting in January. We need to keep this going and keep each other updated on how were doing throughout school!

I am starting Jan. 20th, 2010 for my ADN-RN at PPCC in Colorado Springs. I'm so very excited. Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to everyone still waiting! Time seems to be flying by as I got accepted in July! Doesn't seem so long ago. Everyone ready to take this crazy ride called nursing school?

I was wondering... I'm currently a student a Kirkwood Community College @ Cedar Rapids, IA and almost done with my pre-reqs for the nursing program. Do you mind if I ask what you got on your TEAS?? I'm worried that I didn't score high enough to get into the program Fall 2010. Thanks.

Sorry I'm just now responding, I haven't been to this tread in awhile. My TEAS score was 81.2. I sat for the TEAS in Sept. and they sent me a letter in Oct. saying I was accepted into the nursing program for January.

I started Fall of '09, having a great time so far in nursing school. I am making new friends and learning so much. It keeps me busy but I am enjoying it. Clinical experience is the best. Study those drug calculations!

Hi All,

I start the ADN program at Grayson County College in North Texas on January 11th! Excited and nervous at the same time :p I picked up my over $1300 worth of books yesterday, and hope that our scrubs order makes it in time for clinicals (apparently there have been problems in the past). Cheers to everyone starting down this path! I am sure it will be challenging and rewarding at the same time!

Congrats to everyone!! I got my acceptance letter in December and start in less than 3 weeks (Jan 25!) at UMass Boston for my BSN! I couldnt imagine starting as soon as the 11th! I'm soooooooooooo nervous and no one truly understands how nerve wracking it is except other students and nurses who are going/have gone through this process too!! We can do this guys!!!!!! Good luck and let us all know how everything goes!

Hi everyone! My name is Connie and I am starting the RN program at QCC in NYC this semester! I have 2 boys 8 & almost 5 and work part-time. yesterday was our first info session and my head is spinning! Our orientation is on the 21st and classes start on the 28th. there is so much to do until then! I sent out the malprctice insurance form today, made a doctor's appointment for tomorrow, registered for a CPR class and bought my stethescope online. We are also required to have a smartphone or PDA! I just upgraded my phone this summer (not to a smartphone :banghead: ) so I'm not eligible for another upgrade right now. The cheapest option is a blackberry for $207, but I really like my phone and don't need a blackberry. So I'm thinking of getting a refurbished Itouch for a PDA. Are any of you also required to have one of these? UGH. Also, we need a watch with a sweep second hand, also not easy to find! Anyway, I'm really excited and I look forward to getting to know all of you!
